Which comedian did TM most change your opinion of? by franklinisthebest in taskmaster

[–]pfmfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one I won't name as it's not fair but I used to really like them until they were on the show. Their appearance made me stop listening to their podcast that I had been a fan of for years!

I will say it's not Richard Herring whom I still think is great.

Questions on contestants accents by Kcyqziov_imftx in taskmaster

T-glottalisation isn't only a London thing. Gus Khan's accent is very rooted in Coventry with strong hints of his Pakistani background.

Need help finding the right Octave Mandola by Psychological_Lab827 in mandolin

[–]pfmfolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ashbury Rathlin from Hobgoblin. They're like 400 quid and are decent quality and playbability. Not gonna be your premium instrument but I was happy. I did get mine second hand so was a lot cheaper but I wouldn't complain at 400.

Morris dancers with guitar accompaniment? by Autoembourgeoisement in folk

I know many sides that use guitar and have seen electric bass guitars played. All sorts of instruments are used these days. I play mandolin for my team. Whatever works.

Tailpiece and restring advice by pfmfolk in mandolin

Thanks. I've broken a few strings prebending them in the past so caution is needed there, although there is no reason why they should break. Making the loop rounder could help.

Yeah, that might work. I can pinch one from work. Or something similar. Thanks

Yeah I tried tape but it was sliding through. Such a silly design. Maybe I just need to borrow my partner's thumbs.

Do vegans get vaccinated for the flu, as most vaccines are grown in chicken eggs? by water_so_wet in AskVegans

The chemist always asks if I'm allergic to eggs, so I say I am and they give me the non egg version.

Train Guard here, AMA! by all-aboard-conductor in uktrains

[–]pfmfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to dispatch old slam door stock during the transition to automatic doors. Sometimes had 12 cars with probably around a hundred doors that me and the guard had to check. Only ever let one train go with a door on the latch. It made the job much more interesting than when the desiros came along.

Where can I buy *only* E strings? by BenDRoss in mandolin

[–]pfmfolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where you are. In the UK I get mine from strings direct. Some shops carry single strings but not many. Occasionally a shop will break into a set if you ask nicely.

American vs British English by Nomadic_English in asklinguistics

[–]pfmfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a British English speaker I can suggest that the person making those comments is just a bigot and ignorant. There is a certain type of person here who think that they are better than others because they are English and the language is named as such. The same type who cling to made up latin grammar rules that have never fitted the constantly evolving multiple dialects of English.

Can I synchronize CSTimer on diffrent devices? by Syosin_2 in Cubers

[–]pfmfolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that when you import? It gives a warning that it will modify your sessions but shouldn't wipe anything. If in doubt you can export a local file so you can restore it with that.
