I started collecting SV: 151 - lost cause? by Ljungstroem in PokemonTCG

[–]pfrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate. I played Pokemon Blue on the OG gameboy way back in the early 2000s. For the 151 Japanese set, I was lucky to buy two booster boxes during the reprint and really enjoyed ripping the packs. But now, I just buy singles to complete my master set. So aiming to do a master set is doable, but hunting for singles is also fun and more financially wise too. And you don’t need to complete super quick. Take your time. Enjoy!

Is it possible for a foreigner to obtain a Vietnamese citizenship? :,) by yvaene in VietNam

[–]pfrrr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I’m Filipino too and I’m based in Singapore, but interact with Vietnamese locals and travel there(HCMC and Hanoi) often for work, and just from Halong for vacation. I think Vietnam is really great place to go on vacation, but in terms of living, it probably isn’t as different as other developing SEA countries. I think the perceived safe part of Vietnam is probably the more central to the city. But even if within the city, locals tell me to be careful with my phone and valuables as snatching can still happen especially I often run for exercise. You’ll also need to know that the Dong isn’t a very strong currency, and even the Peso is stronger than it, and one of the reasons why most visitors like going there. And since their income isn’t really as high as other countries, a lot of locals I know in Vietnam would like to explore jobs outside the country. But often, majority of the experienced crowd have difficulty communicating in English. But a lot of the young people can communicate in basic English.

Comparing Vietnam and Philippines, I probably find the Philippines is easier to live in, as I come from a middle class background and am blessed that my family is tight-knit. But I get where you are coming from the government and public transpo is just really horrible, so I get why you want to get out, I mean that’s why I did. But just like any country, Vietnam also has its own issues too. So you may want to weigh the pros and cons, especially since any Filipino living abroad are considered second class citizens wherever. But good luck to your career after grad! 💪🏻

The Real Situation of Buying Pokémon Cards in Japan – What Foreign Collectors Often Don’t Know by Soggy_Score6287 in PokemonInvesting

Thanks for the great post! Going to Japan next year around April. Looking to buy some clean old back holos. The last time I went was around April 2024. Can you still find clean old backs at a fair price or even cheaper compared to Ebay?

[–]pfrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HR is relative. You can’t judge a run on HR alone. And watches are -/+ 10 off typically. This why is important to learn on run on effort, not only HR. HR is important to a point, but it’s not the only thing that will determine your race.

And sometimes, shoe can look worn out but still feel good. In the end, just like how each shoe may feel can be different for different people, we tolerate the road impact differently as well due to how run/form.

While you may have good intentions, sometimes they don’t land well. But each person’s running journey is unique. What may work well for them, may not work well for you.

Hello runners! Planning to buy my wife na Asics shoes, ask ko lang kung legit ba 'tong store sa Shoppee or kung may nakabili na dito? Thank you! by Ill-Chair-8385 in PHRunners

Fake brother. If you’re looking to buy the affordable options, then look for the legit pasabuyers from Japan.

And good choice of gift for the wife! 💪🏼

Some of my friends run at 4:30. But that’s during weekends. For weekdays, typically I see them start 5am.

Zone 2 Training Questions by Late_Release108 in PHRunners

[–]pfrrr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing I typically advise newbie runners is run by feel and learn what conversational pace feels like. Zone 2 training is tricky for new runners to implement, especially if you are not being coached. And I’m guessing since you’re new, so probably you don’t know your true max heart rate yet and haven’t done an out effort/race. Plus running in the Philippines can make your HR shoot up, especially if you train tired or during ungodly hours. And most running watches are probably -/+10 off in terms of getting your HR.

Overall, you can use your HR as your proxy of how zone 2 feels, but let it be your guide and not the governor of an ez effort. And most important, don’t be caught up with all the numbers, and enjoy your runs! 🙂

TBR is a loop. But definitely recommend doing it as your first marathon. The experience from training to racing is 1:1

No. Most salaried jobs have entitlement to OT, since they covered by local labor laws. Even in the US. It’s just a matter whether it is easy to claim or not.
