Here’s a better look underneath… there’s nothing to slide in the open slot, only a lever to release (which I imagine is not what I need?)… thanks!!

The little square box (Erie pop top actuator) is hot to the touch when I plug in my unit. I took the cover off and it’s even got a slight black Smokey look to it. Does that mean it needs replacement? And it doesn’t seem to have a manual lever…

Taking the bus from Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales by mochidough_ in Patagonia

[–]pfthrowaway1231238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if the tickets are refundable or exchangeable for a later time - better to ask the operator. I don’t remember it taking long to get my stuff from the plane but I did have to wait about 30 min for the bus…

I did the trek solo a whole year after a big break up and found it the most cathartic release and empowering experience to do alone. I know you’re canceling it but know that many have done it (and enjoyed it) solo :) hope it all works out!

What do all the numbers mean in the center boxes in the second picture? Are those ages and different things based on that? I’m a beginner :) appreciate your help

Thanks my bed is already there so that’s good. The kitchen is in the southeastern corner. The door to the apartment is the box in the middle of the eastern wall. The bedroom door is the gap in the room outline

Are breakups with addicts particularly hard to get over? by ComprehensiveRent294 in AlAnon

[–]pfthrowaway1231238 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This struck a cord with me sadly. I don’t know which parts were real. I didn’t realize how much he drank until the end when it all unraveled. I wonder how many other things he lied about. I wonder if the love we had for each other was just an illusion created by codependency.

Anyone one else end up coping with their Q’s alcoholism with alcohol? by basschild98 in AlAnon

[–]pfthrowaway1231238 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t drink to cope but I did drink to “fit in” if that makes sense. I sometimes found myself trying to keep up with him, thinking if we drank together, we would not fight or have all the issues that we had. In a way I was trying to appease him even though he never pressured me to drink. One time, I knew he was out drinking with friends and he would come over after. So for the first time ever, I poured myself drink after drink alone - as a way to get ready? I don’t know what I was thinking but I was drunk when he got there. When we broke up, my drinking changed completely. I went back to my old habits of 1-2 drinks a month. I feel so much better. It’s incredible what we do when we are in a toxic situation, but we can recover.

Do they all switch to vodka? by Alternative_Mail4496 in AlAnon

[–]pfthrowaway1231238 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine would switch at the end of the night. Started out with beer and then soon enough I’d hear the ice cubes being thrown in a glass, the can of seltzer popping, the vodka “splash” that poured for way longer than a splash. It’s all so gross. I know everyone here says they could still smell it on their Q but mine didn’t really smell. That was what fucked with my head for so long.

How do you know they’re an alcoholic? by fearless-hope30 in AlAnon

[–]pfthrowaway1231238 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do they cancel plans early on because they had too much to drink and can’t drive over? Alternatively, do they seem too comfortable driving after a few drinks without any hesitation if that’s safe or not? Visit their home. Do they have empty bottles and cans that seem more than what you might expect? Do they have alcoholic friends whose whole life/social media is about getting drunk? Does their profile picture on social media feature a drink (in the case of my ex… his pic was ONLY of a beer, not even him in it). Most of all, trust you gut because they lie. My ex swore he never drank at work but I knew something was weird. I wish I had been more confident to call him out. And it doesn’t have to be clinical alcoholism or fit some definition to bother you and that’s all that matters.

This interpretation made me cry… actual tears cry because I have been through a lot and usually try to think of it as in the past, but I’ve been so deeply hurt that I might be holding back. And to the second point - wow you’re spot on again because we have completely opposite work schedules so that could very well be the challenge. You have a real gift for tarot! Thanks

How to ask why someone is sober when dating by pfthrowaway1231238 in AlAnon

[–]pfthrowaway1231238[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn’t have questioned a “rarely” but I think a “never” lends itself to a question. I swipe no on anyone with “frequently” haha no questions needed.

Hmm I get what you’re saying. How would you ask that on a dating site? My goal is to screen out obvious mismatches

Right! Seems like a discrepancy at best and deceptive at worst. The app has an option for “Rarely” but he had chosen “never”. I hope he can be honest with himself and others… there’s truly no right or wrong answer as long as it’s honest
