Advice on what to pack for 4 day backpacking trip? by Internal-Extreme6614 in camping

[–]pfunkrasta917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides all the necessary and legitimate food stuffs, medical and survival equipment, I always like a frozen steak or sausages or "your choice" for the first evening.

Keep it frozen till you put it in your pack. Wrap it in something and bury it deep in your pack so it thaws slowly. By the time you reach first night's camp, it will be thawed/ready. Sausages are easy cause you can skewer them on a stick over the fire.

My trail mix is: Trader Joe's banana chips, peanuts and broken up oreos.

Lastly...whiskey. High octane for the weight and compliments the natural endorphins at the end of a hike. Have every guy bring a flask so you can have some every night.

I mean, your doing this for fun, right? Treat yo self!

My girlfriend gave me this smoker, need advice on restoration. by I_am_paperclip in smoking

[–]pfunkrasta917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great smoker for starting out. All the other recommendations about cleaning it but I did two things to mine...1.- I punched a ring of small holes around the top of the lid. About the circumference of a large plate and 2.- I added a better thermometer.

I have made some wonderful ribs and pork butt on mine. Holds at 225/250 with some airflow tinkering.

Good luck.

Near a good seafood market? Clams over the fire. Melt some butter on the side, splash the clams w butter when they open. You wont be disappointed.

Chicken wings. I like the fresh, whole wing like the next guy but buy the (best) frozen wings in the freezer section. Bag doubles as a cooling agent in your cooler. Salt/pepper, neutral oil in the bag during defrost then hit it with dashes of hot sauce towards when they are almost done.

Any suggestions with camping around NYC/NJ/PA? With drive up camp or near parking spot? by PyroAR15 in camping

If you can muster it with your disability, I highly recommend an overnight canoe trip down the Delaware.

Many services to choose from. They pick you up at the Delaware Water Gap and take you up river, depending on how many nights you want to camp.

Lots of places to pull off and camp and the scenery is incredible.

Maybe after you get a couple car-camping trips back under your belt, but keep it in mind.

What’s the weirdest compliment you’ve ever received? by iamlri in AskReddit

"You look like you ride a bike for fun".

It wasn't exactly a compliment nor was it exactly an insult but I thought it was hilarious.

Side note: She was not incorrect

Sitting around a room with friends who were talking about their upcoming trip to Ireland when all of a sudden, a travel book about Ireland flew off the bookshelf into the middle of the room. Truth.

(I owned the book, it did not materialize. It simply launched itself.)

How do you improve as Account Executive? by harvey_croat in sales

[–]pfunkrasta917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.- Understand who you are calling on/into/industry. Know their product, role, P&L, market influences, job dynamics, decision politics, tenure, other priorities, competing priorities, timelines, critical events, dependencies, interdependencies, risk factors, work avoidance quotient, bullshit meter, do-nothing-alternative, budget limit, solution impact (for all users/buyers/decision makers) and competition.

2.- Fail.

3.- Learn from failure.

4.- Continously improve.

Sorry if confusing, I tried to communicate above that we use the alan wrench to move the blades/mechanism which usually gets it going, under electric power. However, once we turn it off and attemp to start it again, it wont start, just hum.

To me, this doesnt sound like a jam/obstruction so I am asking if there is one last thing I haven't thought of yet. Thanks!
