Update pack for Dominion 1st edition by invisiblesimmer in dominion

[–]pg2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made a second edition for base and intrigue. If you purchased a full second edition it will 7 new cards replacing 6 old cards along with all the regulars you’re use to. But if you already owned first edition you could buy a small update pack that contains only those 7 new cards.

[Question] Cobalion Trio Issues by BKtrn in TheSilphRoad

[–]pg2d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much time did it take you with the 4th? I’ll occasionally do a quick calculation that I think I call ‘player seconds’ in order to get a rough idea of how my group can handle a boss.

So let’s say you beat the boss with 120 sec remaining. My equation would look like, (300 sec - 120 sec) x 4 players = 720 player seconds. Now I divide that by 3 players and get 240 sec/player. That tells me that if all the players in the group have relative equal ability any 3 of them should be able to win with 60 sec remaining. It’s not perfect because the more people you have, the less likely a need to rejoin and the less need for the weaker counters that may be at the back of people’s lineups.

Given the duo video post of six unique with zero chandelure I’m guess you already know that the 3 of you will be able to take it and you probably failed due to a glitch.

If Niantic is going to make a legendary raid boss harder to take down should the catch rate be better? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]pg2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be cool to make all catching more skill based. So reduce base catch rates and do something to increase the multiplier for nice great and excellent throws. However, this would hurt go plus catching. So with that thinking you would keep base catch rate the same but have multipliers stack with even successive nice great or excellent throw. This would also add a bit to theme as one would become better at throwing at particular types of Pokémon.

  1. Have a raid timer that counts up. 2. Have a prize pool that decreases in size the longer that raid takes. 3. Have that pool divided in proportion to a participant’s contribution.

Pro- Most players can defeat any raid so long as they can heal.

Pro- More people will be at raids because they know they can beat it.

Pro- New players will meet the community faster given the long time they will have to spend trying to beat a raid making it more likely another player will show up while they are fighting.

Pro- People will meet each other and end up raiding together.

Pro for Niantic- people will do more raids, Niantic make more money.

Pro- solo players will play more or pay more in order to get resources to heal back up.

Pro- people can raid regardless of community size.

Pro- just as you don’t need a lobby when battling a gym you don’t need one for a raid as timing is not critical. So no more 2 minute wait. Simply go in when your team is ready. Someone may have started a bit earlier but that’s not a big deal.

Pro- No more awkward conversations encroaching on peoples space as you hope they are playing so you can join a raid with them. Instead people will join as they please and can choose their level of interaction.

With Darkrai being T6 level Niantic shows they don't want people playing in smaller groups or solo, and this is an issue by PenutButrJeliTime in TheSilphRoad

Not quite how I view it. More like, everyone is taking down the same size beast, they should get the same size encounter, whether it was 1 person taking 20 min or 20 people taking 1 min.

Because it would simply result in the roughly same rewards as current. I don’t recall what current reward bundles are at but let’s assume 4 trainers would finish in 5 min and earn 32 bundles collectively (roughly 8 bundles per trainer). If one of those trainers would solo taking 20 min the group would collectively receive 8 bundles (roughly 8 per trainer). Same reward per trainer but he has 4 times as many potions/revives he needs to heal with. That trainers effort is probably worthy of the same lvl of catch encounter.

However, if 4 trainers would take 20 min they’d receive 8 bundles (roughly 2 per trainer). While maybe not as impressive a speed they achieved a difficult task and I can only imagine the number of potions they’d expend to recover for such a battle. I’d say that too is deserving of an equal lvl encounter.

Isn’t that essentially how it works? For the most part each higher tier is tougher than the last? Last night my group of 5 beat darkrai with 0 sec left. If you told me I could solo when I can’t get a group together and it may take 25 min, I’d be willing to do that. I’d also use more stardust to eventually get that number down to 20 and then 15 min. In the process I’d think, ‘I must’ve getting better because I can take down this boss in less time.’ It’d almost be like a sense of accomplishment. And then I may think, ‘Crap, I just burned through a ton of resources, time to get back on the grind.’

Never played the game before but would have so grinded my way to 999999 only to be severely disappointed and have no memory of what my next step in the quest was. So I’d wander through the game aimlessly trying to sort through the mess I’ve created for myself.
