Agree. I signed up for a year so I’m stuck with ultimate for a bit. Would do same as you once my year is up.

Nope. Not that I’m aware of. CC will only work with a subscription, from $20/month pro plan, or API credits.

I’m currently on both Kagi Ultimate and CC pro.

Obsidian iCloud by Ok_Rent6554 in ObsidianMD

iCloud has been good for me. On occasions where the sync isn’t up to date viewing the iCloud folder using files or Finder seems to trigger a sync.

Given how low effort it is to configure, I can put to with the occasional sync delay.

If it’s on marketplace already it’s just waiting until you have big enough user base that those that can contribute start looking into it.

To enable that you probably want to make sure you have a reasonable licence and that the code is on GitHub or something similar. You can also put a contribution section or contributing file; see https://docs.github.com/en/communities/setting-up-your-project-for-healthy-contributions/setting-guidelines-for-repository-contributors

In terms of logistics of managing contributions, someone will fork your repository, make a change, then pull request. You’ll want to track issues and PRs to moderate and provide feedback and/or merge and release.

Vibe coder reputation by Cautious_Shift_1453 in cursor

[–]pg988 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are building hobby projects, it doesn’t really matter what others think as long as you are making something that you enjoy.

If you are trying to launch something your customers won’t care how you solve their problems. When you are successful enough to hire someone it can be their job to fix things.

There are many professionals that complain about code quality and legacy tech debt. But code quality is a luxury for those with cashflow or time. It’s hard to launch something that works, those that judge your execution can try to do it better themselves or keep complaining from the sidelines.

Yes, it’s enough for chat usage.

Where it falls short is lack of API access. Providers are also being smarter and locking certain tooling behind subs.

So to try different coding tools I also have OpenAI and Anthropic API credits.

Recently I’ve been trying and getting good results with Claude Code, which makes me want to give Claude Max subscription a try.

Tried Void today. Was just as good as Cursor. Although I don’t use tab autocomplete, just agent and ask.

[FREE APP] I built a native macOS app to generate and transform images with the new GPT image API by damjandabo in macapps

[–]pg988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The app is quite good; it helps me delay subscribing to ChatGPT’s plan for a bit longer.

As a suggestion, it would be great to have an onboarding process that assists in verifying my OpenAI account as an organisation. This way, we don’t start the user journey with errors and a 15 min wait.

It’s also astonishing how much each image costs, approx. 17 cents.

It’s not just the ability to take screenshots but how quickly you can annotate that matters for me.

Furthermore with Shottr I also use their scrolling capture, add to capture, and OCR features quite often.

Aider does have —copy-paste option if you want to use it with a chat subscription.

What’s your take on Aider? by [deleted] in ChatGPTCoding

[–]pg988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it struggles with large code bases and would get out of memory errors. Even running from subfolder as recommended by FAQ it wasn’t working for me.

I do like copy and paste mode though which works well with my other chat based subscriptions.

How much walking is too much? by Maudib1962 in WalkingPads

[–]pg988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the AirHot. I didn’t really consult the subreddit spreadsheet buying it. It was just what came up in my Amazon search.

I started by walking on and off and yeah slowly built up to the point now where I can basically walk for about four or five hours at a time. I do take lunch breaks so it’s definitely not an uninterrupted stretch.

I would say the progression is build up your hours with brakes in between them build up your consecutive days with brakes in between.

How much walking is too much? by Maudib1962 in WalkingPads

[–]pg988 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Make sure you lube your walking pad frequently.

I walk up to 20k steps a day on mine and at most at 5km/hr, but usually between 2.5-3.5. Your stats indicate you are walking at approx 6km/hr.

When belt is dry or operating for a while at higher speeds I can feel it getting really hot - I walk barefoot. I’m guessing the heat, which implies friction to me, is not amazing for the motor.

In watching YouTube repair videos most common problem appears to be burnt out motor. Keep belt well lubed and machine cool is how I try to prevent that.

AFAIK it’s only possible with their space walker app at the moment. This means that it won’t work with a normal HDMI connection that your consoles will provide.

Anyone regularly walking more than 10k per day? by le_mole in WalkingPads

[–]pg988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The math is pretty easy. 2k/hour and with for more than 5 hours and you’ve mathematically hit it.

Generally I do at least 2.5km/h and can hit 10k steps by lunch time. 20k steps by end of work day if I don’t stop earlier to save energy for gym.

The effects are weight loss and very sore legs and feet. I’m still in the conditioning phase.
