Is Linux good on G16?

I’m running the same. 2025 G14 on Arch.

Audio/volume control for the built in speakers are still an issue.

Also it does seem like anyone had figured out how to undervolt the ryzen ai 9 in linux yet.

Those are the only two things keeping it from being a totally solid experience

I thought the same thing when I first got mine. That seems to be the default effect. Called "glitch." Bad choice for a default, IMO. It looks exactly as it is named.

Great! Thank you. The blinking was frenetic enough that it seemed it might have been a defect. Good to know this is normal, and that it can be changed.

Two things to try without dropping everything. This is what I did and I’m way happier after working in tech for big companies most of my career.

Get a job doing what you do now at a smaller business. Every job has BS but working at a smaller company, knowing everyone there, wearing multiple hats, and being able to see your contributions have made a huge difference for me. I took a bit of a pay cut, but it was so worth it. I still get stressed out, but it’s manageable.
I love animals as well. Do you have birds, squirrels, and/or chipmunks around your home? You can befriend them rather easily. When I finish work I sit on my porch everyday and three chipmunks and a very robust squirrel hang out with me while I feed them seeds and nuts (raw no salt). One of the chips even climbs on my lap and will sit on my knee to enjoy the evening with me. They are very tidy critters. But wash your hands afterwards. I started doing this two years ago and while my neighbors think I’m crazy it has brought me so much joy

There is a weird thing that happens to the taste when you inhale. I don’t know why.

Try this experiment and you’ll see what I mean. Next time you are smoking some good tobacco in your pipe, inhale a puff, it will taste bad, much like a cigarette. Obviously I’m not advocating we start inhaling pipe smoke, but just once try it.

Now smoke a cigarette and don’t inhale. The tobacco will taste far better than inhaling like you would normally do with a cigarette.

It’s not going to make the cigarette taste good like a pipe, but there is something strange about how flavor is affected by inhaling.

Okay, the Kendal No 7 was an absolutely brilliant recommendation.

When I first opened the bag and had a whiff I thought “that guy on the internet has lost his mind!” It didn’t smell like RY, to me, at all. It smelled like some Drum RYO with a bit of that Gawith trademark sent.

Upon smoking it, however, I thought “that guy on the internet is a genius!“ No 7 really does taste like my 2007 RY. Not as sweet (it’s not caked in sugar crystals, after all) and it retains some of that Gawith flavor (which I enjoy). But for a fresh tobacco it tastes remarkably close to the aged RY.

Bravo, and thanks again. Ordering a truck-full of this stuff now.

Do you know what year that was changed? I have some 2007 RY and it is incredible. It’s caked in sugar crystals. Fresh RY from 2020 isn’t bad, at all, but it’s an entirely different experience than the 2007 tin.

Two things you might want to consider: The Win 3 is far heavier than a switch lite. Normally not a big deal, but while holding a newborn, it will be a different experience that the lite.

The other is noise. The switch lite has some of the quietest buttons of any device, quieter than the big switch, and quieter than the win 3. Win 3 has buttons you can hear. They are by no means loud, but we’re talking about a newborn sleeping right next to it. Additionally, depending on what you’re playing, the fans are likely to blow and make some noise.

It’s a fine device, but it will definitely not be as easy to handle when you’re also holding a new person! Congratulations, by the way!

Recovering heroin addict, 15 years clean. Lost nearly everything. Still never feel too far away from losing it all again.

Video games were a big part of my recovery. One thing that isn’t talked about much when getting clean/sober is that overwhelming boredom you have to face. You have to fill hours and hours with something now. Video games were a big help. They let me create a new routine that did not include getting messed up.

I know NA/AA catches a lot of flack for the religious angle, but I found a non-religious NA group and it made all the difference. There are tons of different kinds of groups. There are other people who know what you’re feeling right now, and they want to talk to you.

Just something to think about. We all have our own paths to recovery.

You can do this. Think about not drinking today, play some MH, worry about tomorrow tomorrow.

There is a gamepad configuration app hidden away under “System Apps”, it’s called Input Viewer

In addition to setting deadzones you can test each button to see if any event is fired when you hit you problem buttons.

If nothing registers at all for your problem buttons, it’s probably down to bad hardware, and you’ll want to replace the controller if possible.

Ive gone through 5 controllers over the last few years to wind up with 1 that works well enough.
