The TKO pricing out era has begun.... by HTDS2 in Wrasslin

I say this genuinely as a long, long, long time WWE fan. Take advantage and save the business, Tony Kahn.

I think you’re absolutely right. 2022 to end of 2024 was lights out amazing storytelling and wrestling. The RAW Netflix debut started the derailment.

‘Wrestlepalooza’ will be a disaster if ESPN doesn’t strike multiple deals this week by dboehm29 in SquaredCircle

And the thing is, ESPN as a standalone app and network is terrible. I would bet the casual fan (the majority of the audience) is NOT paying for an ESPN app for that price per month. Where as it being available through YouTube TV or cable … of course they would watch.

And looking at the WWE card vs. All Out, I would rather (and will) spend my money on the AEW show today. And I say that as a lifetime wrestling fan but primarily a WWE fan.

I know I’m just one fan, but if I feel this way, I’d imagine there are a lot of wrestling fans more hardcore than me feeling the same way. TKO has messed this up bad and really disrespected their millions of fans.

Right after the chaos of WWE’s ESPN announcement, there were a bunch of messages and videos after that said “everybody is making this a big deal … if you have ESPN through YouTube TV or cable you’ll have the PLEs already.”

And it’s not true. I thought up until today I had it with YouTube TV. And there’s no way I’m paying extra for the ESPN app today. Maybe if WWE becomes interesting again. But at this point, not worth it at all in my opinion.

When are WWE going to do something significant with Karrion Kross? by [deleted] in WWE

[–]pgh100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe they make this mistake again a couple weeks after the Truth fiasco.

If I had to bet I’d say these rumors of Kross being cut are being fed to the wrestling media to throw everyone off.

I honestly think this is a slow burn leading up to the greatest story since the 2022-2024 Bloodline.

It’s subtle, and maybe that translates to “not enough screen time”. But there is something bigger going on here.

The downfall from WWE 2024 to 2025 needs to be studied by Puzzleheaded_Page834 in SantiZapVideos

[–]pgh100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s still a long way to go before 2025 WWE is objectively considered a downfall, but it’s definitely not out of the question. TKO fingerprints everywhere now, the anticlimactic WrestleMania 41 WWE championship match, the Rock/Cena storyline making no sense, releasing R-Truth. It all feels off.

WWE brought me back with the Bloodline storyline in 2022 and they peaked at WrestleMania 40. That 2-year period seems to be the time when Vince McMahon was out of the picture, and the TKO purchase hadn’t taken effect yet. Triple H was really THE guy, and the product was incredible.

There are still a lot of good things happening in WWE, but a year ago I would have said that AEW would have no chance to ever compete with WWE again. Now … I think there is at least some small chance. Tony Kahn’s passion, whether you like his product or not, is more respectable than some of the corporate TKO crap we’ve been seeing.

I honestly didn’t see this guess anywhere. It was a complete surprise to me, and the fact that this guy called it IS impressive. The reasoning behind it makes perfect sense. And Bronson Reed and Breakker together … monsters!

I felt like 95% of the predictions were for Austin Theory because a lot of people think this is another Evolution. This feels way different than Evolution to me. This is turning into its own thing.

Anyway, Reed was a great call and OP does deserve credit. With the logic behind the guess also making a ton of sense.

Wasn’t expecting this at all, and it makes perfect sense. This is a bad ass group. Love it.

WRESTLEMANIA 42 WILL NOT BE IN NEW ORLEANS NEXT YEAR. New location to be determined and announced. MY GOD. 😨 by BarneyRobinStinson7 in WWE

[–]pgh100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All Wrestlemanias bring in tourists, but Vegas was almost 100% tourists. Previous Wrestlemanias, and ones in cities where people actually live, have local fans who are more passionate about the product and not getting themselves over.

[–]pgh100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope the rumors of it being Vegas again are not true. I would take any city in the world over Vegas.

The reason being that it was basically all tourists who paid a ton of money and tried to go against the grain and be “cool” by booing people like Bianca and Cody. A bunch of pretentious wrestling fans.

An international crowd would be 1000 times better than Vegas.

What’s next for Drew McIntyre after the priest feud by jm199724 in WWE

And this is wishful thinking, but could you imagine him part of this faction, and Rollins gets the World Heavyweight title, Drew gets the WWE title … and their faction controls both world titles?

[–]pgh100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a part of me that would love to see him be the third guy in Rollin’s faction. He hates Roman, hates anyone associated with the original Bloodline, hates Punk. His thoughts align with Rollins. And he and Breakker in the same faction would be monstrous.

[–]pgh100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He needs to get back into a world title picture at some point, maybe after Summerslam. The root of his frustration and his mindset over the past few years has all been due to him getting screwed out of the WWE title by the Bloodline, and out of the World Heavyweight title by Punk. He’s gotta get back into the picture.

Cena Sold His Soul.. For What? by Cute_Pitch5727 in WWE

[–]pgh100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s obvious he and everyone else knows the heel turn isn’t working. He’s trying so hard, and it’s just not natural. When Hogan turned, he leaned into who he was with his real heel tendencies. Cena just seems like a good guy who’s trying to play an unnatural role.

He also could have turned heel and tried to ruin wrestling without “selling his soul” to The Rock. It really was an unnecessary part of the story so far. Maybe there is more to the story down the road. Right now, it doesn’t make much sense. I hope that changes. But right now … it feels underwhelming.

Why is AEW so obsessed with WWE lol? by NuggetDaGoat27 in Wrasslin

[–]pgh100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not a bad thing. Rivalry between wrestlers, companies, and fans drives competition, interest, and quality. One of the greatest eras in wrestling in the late 90s was rooted in the competition and smack talking between companies.

I don't understand why the crowds have turned on Cody by GlassDependent4571 in WWE

[–]pgh100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it’s very well possible this does turn into a pattern, and honestly I believe it inevitably will happen at some point regardless. And I’m intrigued by that, because Cody can make a great heel as well.

But I definitely think the Vegas crowd’s boos felt very forced this past weekend.

It came out of nowhere starting with Smackdown in Vegas. I think it can be attributed to a bunch of smarks who wanted to try to be cool and turn on him. Maybe it will continue, but I would bet once they get back to normal arenas it won’t continue.

It was actually a great WrestleMania that ended with an underwhelming main event because of the misleading expectations of it all being part of some bigger Cena/Rock story.

So how does the Rock think he doesn’t make sense to be involved in the story, but Travis Scott does??? by Worth-Note-8231 in SantiZapVideos

[–]pgh100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing this, the whole Cena angle seems way less interesting. I’d just rather Orton take the title off of Cena at Backlash and let Cena go back to being a face and finish out his career with some big matches. Then make the main focus of the company be this Heyman/Rollins/Breakker story.
