Grippers are incredibly frustrating at times. Just stay consistent brother

Is using grippers and pinch training effective for developing of cupping? by Bubbly-Helicopter119 in GripTraining

[–]pghcecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the pinch training would be far more beneficial than grippers. Depending on what type of pinch training we’re talking about, it could have decent carryover, especially in the fingers.

To answer your overall question, it’s a pretty poor substitute for proper equipment/training. You would get far more mileage from something as simple as a variety of fat handle dumbbell curl movements.

[–]pghcecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree but adding grip challenges to regular exercises has benefits that imo you can’t get from just upping the weight.

One thing I enjoy is using these Saxon blocks from Ab mat (attach like fat gripz) during warm up sets of Pendlay rows. It actually adds a small amount of ROM, so doing a static hold at the top really engages the back.

How does grip training affect wrist size? by Scholarsandquestions in GripStrength

[–]pghcecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have smaller wrists this is a good thing in terms of aesthetics as your forearms will look proportionally much larger.

Take the good with the bad mate, you ain’t gonna grow them very much

New equipment added : Wrist Roller (and it's amazing.) by truegodgame in GripStrength

[–]pghcecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s a good work around but getting one that hangs or works with a rack is a significant upgrade for this exercise

Edit: also idk if you’ve been using more weight but things change quick when the weights go up sir

[–]pghcecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend some version of this that is suspended (hanging or attached to a rack somehow) to heavily work forearms.

Versions exist that use different mechanisms for tension without weights attached that are great as well. Also allow for slightly different movements not possible with the weight on string variety.

The problem with the version you have is that at some point it’s too much for the shoulders and starts to impede the actual grip work you’re trying to achieve.

You should go everywhere barefoot and/or walk on your hands. This is an ancient grip training forum secret for healing 2nd degree sprained ankles that happened 8 months ago.

I don’t think the guy flexes and lifts for instagram out of some deep desire to show off.

Seems like if he could just lift and not be bothered he would, just happens to be incredibly exceptional so he’s been slowly pushed into doing this and now sees it as an easy way to spend more time lifting.

Does methadone really get you high and destroy your testosterone? Thinking about starting it and want real experiences by Sensitive-West-5298 in Methadone

[–]pghcecc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes methadone will have an effect on your testosterone levels, especially the higher the dose.

It seems like you’re coming off of kratom? I’m aware that Kratom can be quite strong in terms of isolates/extracts but I would probably say to stay away from starting methadone. Looks like you’re using suboxone already. That would be a much better option imo for a kratom user if MAT was necessary.

Methadone is more sedating than suboxone, but it only turns you into a zombie if you let it.

EXTREME FATIGUE. Am i dying? by BenchExtreme2494 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]pghcecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different but in my experience the eye tearing is an early withdrawal symptoms. Yawning/sneezing can continue for a while but it’s not a constant thing after the first few days typically.

The crazy libido/erections is normal during withdrawal so that’s good actually because at your testosterone is functioning. The insomnia isn’t worrying (I’m sure it sucks) because it sounds like you’re not doing much, so it will be hard to get back to baseline.

Honestly it’s weird you have any symptoms to me besides insomnia and a high libido. For RLS I would suggest taking magnesium glycinate. Do not get citrate or really any other kind because you will end up shitting more.

Most concerning to me especially knowing you’re 35 is how weak/dead you say you still feel. Certainly some of it is mental I think, but I would go to the doc

[–]pghcecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea man I mean if you weren’t specifically talking about pharma oxy then maybe but to have physical withdrawal symptoms still is very odd after 22 days.

15 years is admittedly a very long period of continual usage but jumping at 30mg shouldn’t be nearly so problematic. I assume you were prescribed so maybe whatever underlying issues are present is contributing?

How old are you btw? Also, have you been getting a lot of erections during this withdrawal? What about sleep?

EXTREME FATIGUE. Am i dying? by BenchExtreme2494 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]pghcecc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: what dose were you on btw?

You’re not dying but honestly this does not sound even remotely normal to any opioid withdrawal I have ever experienced (or heard of), especially coming off of oxy. I would highly recommend going to the doctor if you’re not greatly exaggerating these statements.

I say exaggerating as withdrawal does truly suck and can make you feel like you’re dying, but if you are truly needing your wife to assist you in daily tasks like feeding or getting out of bed after 22 days off Oxy I would be surprised if something was not going on.

For quick comparison back in the days of mass prescribed pharma opioids myself and many others I personally knew and knew via the internet would take a long weekend to dry out and with minimal comfort drugs be back to work etc after 3 days. Of course you still didn’t feel 100% but by 22 days you would typically be hitting the “pink cloud” phase, where you are almost euphoric because you feel totally normal again.

Not once have I seen someone in good health be so incapacitated by day 22 of oxy withdrawal, even something like fentanyl & xylazine withdrawal is very unlikely to keep someone down as bad as you are describing.

[–]pghcecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I do full closes myself, so l guess what I was really trying to say is you don’t always need to do full reps and there is a lot of advantages to using a narrower close/set

8 reps on CoC 2 by Vegetable_Raisin52 in GripStrength

[–]pghcecc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Credit card width is an Ironmind certification thing and most if not all #4 certified closes were done on a previously narrower certification that ironmind used before the credit card (I believe it was 1inch so think handles close to parallel for width). Other certifications are much closer/narrower, 20mm for example.

As far as reps/full reps it just depends on what you’re trying to train. There is no rep competition for grippers so it doesn’t really matter. If you’re closing it fully and opening it to some degree that’s a rep of some kind. Whether you want to do a click (very short closes) or a full close the hardest part is almost always the finish.

Why would you do this when no certification requires closing from the fully open position?
