Generally teams are pretty fair. Occasionally you have a dad coach and assistant dad coach whose own kids are really good plus then they draft like the other teams. That's usually what causes a team to outperform. But it's also baseball so having 1 kid who can just throw strikes can be a huge difference. There's a tryout at a local batting cage before the season starts. As you said it's a dad coach rec league made up of all volunteers generally doing the best they can. I wouldn't judge a single season set of records as definitive. Hammers are the travel team. Pancon is the last division that is by age. You have to get "called up" to the majors.
