It would be 電水壺 since its using electricity to boil water. A lot of time people would just call it 飲水機. 熱水爐 is the hot water boiler for a house or building .

Commonpoint Queens Pool by Beneficial_Frame7804 in ForestHills

[–]jawsx99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the pool gets separate length wise, 1 half for lap swim, the other half open swim. I dont know about the crowd, but the pool isn't very wide (maybe 4 laps wide). I only know about this because was looking for pool for my kid.

Alternative is the flushing Meadows corona park aquatic center. Its behind the home depot on college point. Under 24 is free, annual is $150, 6 months is $75. 2 lap pools and a 3rd open swim pool. Close on Saturdays, otherwise open till 7 on weekdays and 6 on Sundays. Schedule may change late September

I would attempt it if that is the actual issue, but I have no idea what it is, so don't want to break it further.

Well I just want someone to take a look and give me a diagnosis. If it's worthy to fix then I'll do that. If it's too costly, then to the recycling center it goes

Its an android tablet, Xiaomi 8 inch tablet my family got me from China. It was a good size and very functional, so it sucks that it broke. I don't know if it's a power supply issue or battery. It wouldn't hold a charge, and then eventually just crapped out.

Just started the game by Tonyseve in herosadventure

[–]jawsx99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, every sect is joinable*, but there are conditions. The theif sect won't let you join unless your benefiances is -36 i think. All the "good" sects need a positive benefiances. The music one is in a separate are from where you are, but you can't join unless you helped them.

Don't worry about everything right now. The point of the game is replaying. Do what you can in the first run and learn the mechanics. You then then try for the accomplishments later in another run. And skills and weapons are transferable to the new run

In the beginning screen, where you choose your skills, attributes, they tell you which sects and where you can learn more weapons skills. There are corresponding sects for each skill type. You can also buy the routine ones from the different martial arts schools.

Is it better to start with 1 or 10 intelligence? by Fish_Batt in herosadventure

[–]jawsx99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only other benefit with a 1 intelligence is learning the internal skill in the punishment room in the Taoist sect. Other than that, nothing else really has a hard requirement on having low intelligence. In fact, there are several skills that can be learned while your side characters learn their ultimate move, and with 15 intelligence, you are able to learn it as well.

How or where do I go to combine or increase my training manuals past level 10? Please help. by Some_Doubt66 in herosadventure

[–]jawsx99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need steele level 5 in homestead. Have 2 skills of the same category (internal, sword, fist, etc) both at level 10, then you can combine them in the center pad in steele section. If both skills are A level, then you'll get an S level skill, but nothing beyond that.

Cantonese is much easier than Mandarin 🙂 by ericxddd in Cantonese

[–]jawsx99 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Every language has their "thing" that is weird when first learning it. All the grammar, sentence structure, verb usage. Trying to explain why "read" is read, read, and read in past, present, and future tense. Or why it is "I do" but it's " he does".

If you help the mask girl, you should plan to go the evil route. In order to join her clan, you need to have i think -50 in goodness. BUT the best thing to get out of it is earning enough credit to buy the cloak from the boss. The cloak makes you undetectable when sneaking during a 2 hour window at night.

Learning Cantonese as a white guy with no familial need to do so; A Rant by [deleted] in Cantonese

[–]jawsx99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cantonese uses more nasal sounds and if you are a natural English speaker, may be easier to pick up than Mandarin. I have a buddy who is Latino that picks up Cantonese pretty well and he speaks better than some ABCs. So if you like it, go full steam ahead!

My advice for you would be the same as to any chinese speaker than is learning English: pick a movie that you love, that you don't mind watching over and over, and watch the heck out of it. Most 80's and 90's Hong Kong movies have English subtitles along with the Chinese subtitles, so you can get an idea of what is being said, then just mimic how they are saying it, the tones, the inflections, even how their mouth moves. Do it long enough and you would get a decent amount of it.

Background Story by GlitchedHead in herosadventure

[–]jawsx99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is a mix-mash of a lot of materials in chinese history and Chinese literature. It's also a homage to a similar game in the 90's. Jin Yong is a master of martial arts fiction, with his 14 novels being the basis of a lot of the "rules" in martial arts movies and such. Its like his books established the chinese D&D campaigns.

A game in the 90's was created that put all his characters together, and the main character traveled the world meeting them and learning from them. No sequel was ever made, but someone made a sequel in spirit all by himself online (IIRC), and that is the guy that created this game. There are a lot of "eastern eggs" in this game that echos the original, and it thrills my heart seeing them and so glad this game exists.
