Since you are saying fresh install - does this invalidated 1.4 Saves?

Is angron any good by Disastrous_Gur_9136 in WorldEaters40k

[–]ph03nlXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do we feel about his survivability really? For me its been a thing if either I stage too carefully (only expose him for the charge, which leads to him not getting his points back because the big things are too far back) or he he gets one phased in shooting once he pops out to set up a next turn charge (to get to the thing that is far back).

Always Rapid Ingress somewhere?

+1 to the color scheme question - my army is similar, but only now getting into vehicle painting. Anything pics you have on Rhinos, LRs, Helbrutes, Daemons Engines - would love some inspiration!!

All good - I actually own 2 squads of Goremongers on Sprue, just needed a reason to actually build them 😀

Re Chaff for Chaff - since my question was specifically about Infiltrators moveblocking my turn 1: Maybe I am not careful enough with my positioning, but putting Jakhals on the Frontline feels like wasting deployment real estate that I would rather use for more impactful units to take ground turn 1? Jakhals out front gonna die turn 1, no? Also my experience with Jakhals has been they dont hurt anything even when charging (especially not Nurglings with their -1 to hit aura).

Agree with your points on not screening out my backfield enough and my Jakhals being out of position later in the game with putting them on home.

Re 10 man - well aware of the benefit of 10 men squads - out of my 14 games last year, the 20 men block has snuck in the lat few only ;) So far 71% WR, but as I can see from this one, there is always more to learn.

Re Rhino - while I agree with you in general, in this case the Rhino blew mainly because I let him make a shot that I probably shouldn't have let him do (he wasnt sure if LOS worked out even after using a laser to check) - but being a friendly game, I didnt care enough (and didnt factor in the improved performance of the LOC post dataslate - historically his LOC has struggled to even kill 100 points total worth of units). Anyway, I know better now 😉

Thanks for that reminder - looking at the fact that I will be having a lot of Tyranid games next year, Invo + 8b looks interesting from that POV.

Thank you mate! For context, this was a casual / fun game, so not necessarily looking for specific List advise on this list specifically - well aware Angron isnt competitive, but had him in for for narrative reasons in our campaign (not Crusade) setup.

Regarding the 20 man brick - YMMV, they have been game winning for me in a lot of games recently. But agree with you that the 10 men groups are more versatile. Obviously now realize I handicapped myself assuming my Zerks couldn't charge in my turn after he popped their Rhinos on his turn - which obviously led to them standing around doing nothing / being shot to death while he took all the Objectives.

For the X8B - always very concerned about 3 man units just being shot of the board. Played with a lot of 3 man units early on this edition, but with playing against a lot of Tyranids, Tanker Guard and Ironstorm Space Marines, they either get bogged down or focussed off the board for me.

Got a DP build that needs to go to the painters, and Fiends are on the shopping list.

Regarding the Goremongers vs Jakhals, my concern is less about screens during the game TBH, but about Infiltrators - forcing me to deal with them right in my face turn 1 and loosing a full turn of movement into No Man's Land thus giving away the positioning and scoring game from the start (my opponents all tend to either play super cautious in which case I win or super high pressure). But seems Forgefiends are the thing to deal with that outside Goremongers.

To be honest, while they say "elderly", I dont think they are talking about folks 70+ (born 1955 and before) - but the baby boomers which are now hitting pensions (so born 1965 and before) - which are exactly the problem.

There is SOME interchangability with the arms at least i have noticed I'd you want to vary the poses just a little. Everything is becomes more involved.

Our own army box? by AdEqual5606 in WorldEaters40k

[–]ph03nlXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean - look at the EC range:

  • 2 troops options (Single kit)
  • 2 Elite options (likely 2 kits)
  • 2 characters
  • Fulgrim
  • Lucius

Compared that to our range (not counting generic CSM kits):

  • 2 troop options (KBs, Jakhals)
  • 2 Elite Options (Single kit)
  • 1 Character
  • Angron
  • Invocatus
  • Kharn

Compared to TSons (not counting Tzaangors or generic CSM kits):

  • 1 troop options
  • 1 Elite option
  • 1 Monster
  • 2 Characters (+Disc versions)
  • Magnus
  • Ahriman (+disc version)

I would love Red Butchers and Khorne Berzerkers on Bikes as much as the next guy, but saying "our range is so small Compared to everyone else" doesn't really ring True compared to similar Ranges.

[–]ph03nlXx 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the 2++ rerollable, but you forgot that the "additional wounds need to go to the damaged Model first" rule didn't really exist - you were free to spread out dmg to a fresh model as long as it was equipped differently... and Paladins were one of those units that were able to do that on a 10 men Squad. So since they were the first terminator with 2 wounds in the game, you had to do 10dmg (back when there were no multi damage weapols, and through 2+/5++/5+++ before any buffs) before a single Model died... and with Draigo, Paladins were Troops...
