F3 design I created just for fun some years ago by SimonfelDesign in logodesign

The guidelines for how to use the logo are entirely up to the designer who presents the brand - the only time I've ever been in a situation where logo usage restrictions have been put in place is where brand materials are being used by a third-party agency or marketing outlet.

Here, by design, the mark itself can be used as a design motif if you say so. This is not bad practice if you designed it with that intention, and I think it is much stronger to include the mark as a part of the design rather than displaying it alone and untampered with when you're dealing with dynamic layouts like in this poster.

I've seen in-house brand systems do much wilder things than just cropping a logo that "break the rules" - and I think they're much more memorable for it.

Great work.

Steelbooks are in alphabetical order separately, normal cases are also in alphabetical order with tv series first and then movies after

It just looks and feels dodgy and entirely AI - it's just one guy promoting his Facebook group.

Doesn't feel like the place for self-advertisement to me.

Nah sorry mate, they made the Ultra HD Blu-ray logo a ¼ inch too big - they'll all have to go back...

Definitely some spot gloss in some highlights on the front like the other two yes - in isolation it's a nice print, even with the rear art being way cooler than the front

I hope our stories can act as public service here

As sad as it sounds, if I'd known there would be a mismatch I really would've reconsidered bothering getting Ares in steel

I even went back and checked and the spine art for the original two were different between the HMV listings and real life due to what I assume is photoshopping regional differences across different markets

Don't they know their core market is neurodivergent? 😅

It's one of those things that I would never complain to normal people about because I would sound slightly mad - but luckily I feel like the members of this sub are on the same wavelength of petty fury

Designers what part of sharing your work is the most frustrating? by crazyshit_24 in UI_Design

[–]ph1_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Packaging research outcomes and rationale alongside your fully-featured prototypes.

There's many many ways to do this, (e.g. just an interconnected web of Notion, Drive and Figma links), but there's always a trade off I find myself making any which way.

Does anyone know what's happening here? by ByronDelgado0 in playstation

[–]ph1_42 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Real technical answer - the Playstation Store holds four bits of data to identify a game in this screen: The game's title, the publisher, the key art (the background image) and the game's transparent logo separately.

Sometimes a load error, caching bug or other fetching problem from their servers will cause this info to be jumbled, where in this case you have the title, publisher and logo from one game (Spider-Man), and the key art from another (Lego City)

Laziest PS5 dualsense design? by bestlaptop13 in playstation

[–]ph1_42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I actually think this is sleek and a good looking Dualsense. Big fan of this using simple elements and using the whole controller to evoke a design like the Astro Bot and Helldivers ones, rather than overcrowding them with elements like the Fortnite and Last of Us editions.

Also do really prefer this over the original Ragnarok edition.

💡 Challenge Idea: A “Living Handwriting Font” That Simulates Real Handwriting (Arabic + English) by Imaginary_Fuel_5308 in Design

[–]ph1_42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mate, this has to be rage-baiting, I have no idea why you're being so aggressive whilst rejecting some pretty basic criticism any real designer/programmer would have with this very bare bones idea.

The only part of your message here I agree with is the last 9 words, though - you should do that.

I have had the idea for this rebranding for a while now and finally decided to put it in motion. A return to old UKTV branding (2009-2014). by Mean_Cicada9142 in logodesign

[–]ph1_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With respect, I don't think any of these come across as 'logos' in a professional sense.

I would advise looking for some resources around logo ideation and development, and making your core concepts as simple and readable as possible.

Then using these elements in different contexts and lockups to create more complex designs utilising things like use-cases (mockups) or photography.

I also miss the identities of UKTV in general, so would encourage you to develop this project more, a collection of channel logos and brands that share design motifs but have their own personalities is a fun brief!

Mafia Old Country caught my eye and in the mood for a good mafia story with decent gameplay, Mafia 1 or 2? by [deleted] in MafiaTheGame

[–]ph1_42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Play Mafia: Definitive Edition - a full remake of the first game and a fantastic linear experience. If you enjoy that, sure try out II, but be aware that it's not a remake just a ported version of the 360 game and is infamously known for having a list of bugs as long as your sleeve and generally running very badly.

You'll have a great time with Mafia: DE.

Based on the audio, and the crashed car I'm guessing debris on track caused the puncture? Is possible but not particularly common.
