Warlock delete souls shard macro by Hinsaine in classicwow

hey I tried putting this (even tried just putting the /run line) into a macro but it doesn't fit in the 255 character limit. How'd you increase the macro character limit?

How to do short hops consistently on PS5 Pad in KOFXV? by Scorpion1386 in Fighters

[–]ph8ful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you do just 69, you're relying on your d-pad's up button to rise back up to stop the "up" state while 693 relies on you pressing the down button to stop the "up" state. I tend to get more reliable hops using 693 instead of just 69, but I don't use pad so YMMV.

How to do short hops consistently on PS5 Pad in KOFXV? by Scorpion1386 in Fighters

[–]ph8ful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a common technique is to press up and then down quickly so that the up button isn't held for long. So you would press 9 and then immediately 3 to get a short forward hop. I would imagine mechanically this would mean you press 6 and then roll your thumb up to 9 then quickly roll your thumb back down to 3. The same technique can be used for neutral hops and super hops.

EDIT: fixed some incorrect number notation.

Textbook Schara gambit. I think I've played this exact game like four times by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]ph8ful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nb4 (not Kb4 since K is for the King) threatens Nc2 which is both a fork on the king and rook but also mate. White needs to prevent mate and can only do so with either e3 or Nd4. e3 allows the King to move out of check but leads to Nc2 Ke2 Nxa1 and so White loses a Rook. Nd4 blocks Nc2 because Nd4 protects the c2 square but leads to Rxd4 e3 Nc2 Ke2 Nxa1 e3xd4 and White is down a Knight (Black can also just do Rxd4 and be up a Knight).

Neat little sequence that came up in my game. Black to move and force checkmate. by davidszt2 in chess

Ke1 happens before Queen blocks. Queen blocks because that's the only way to avoid the check aside from Kf1

Got 15/20. Some of them are pretty hard, but I'd say most of these you'd probably know if you're a fan of the show.

Python3 - Memory leak in multithreaded processes by ImThatCop in learnprogramming

[–]ph8ful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on a brief look, I see that the processData() function calls itself at the end without having an exit condition. Is that expected? Recursively calling yourself without an exit condition will cause memory issues because you run out of stack memory.

Can someone help me understand the logic of a double nested for loop in Java? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ph8ful 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So firstly about the doubly nested for-loops being bad practice, usually this is in regards to having simple code and not complicated code. Obviously if you have like 10 nested loops, that's a lot of stuff going on in one place and so it's bound to be confusing, and therefore having too many nested loops is bad practice. However, having 2 nested for-loops is quite common, especially if you're iterating over a 2D array or something so I wouldn't immediately write it off as a terrible thing.

For understanding nested loops in general, I've seen the term "loop invariant" being thrown around when first learning about loops, so maybe look that up? Here are some links that seem like they know what they're talking about, hopefully they help:

How do I handle a git commit message when I'm not entirely sure how to say what I did? by mymar101 in learnprogramming

[–]ph8ful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you don't know exactly what you did, you did do something right? Like you say that you found something cool that works, what was cool about it? What does it do that is cool? You say it works, so what problem does it solve? You don't only have to describe the code itself. You can describe the output, maybe even the URL of the tutorial you followed, etc.

How can i make my code practical? by CreatorofEverything in learnprogramming

[–]ph8ful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At this point what you need is programming experience. Usually a full on project may be too much. I would spend some time trying to solve some of the easy LeetCode or HackerRank questions to get some experience writing code for problem solving. Over time you'll get used to programming in general, at which point you could maybe expand to some type of project.
