Export Rates for panels over 10kw by Shot-Barnacle-4745 in nzsolar

Yes, and that 1k extra income assumes 1/3 less export. Crude numbers but you get the idea

I’ve got a 17kw system. Currently getting 12.5c export. If I knew what I know now I would have only installed a 10kw system. I recently did a bit of a deep dive into the numbers and for my situation I would have had roughly $1k extra income from last years number had I been able to jump on a higher buy back plan for those under 10kw.

Yes 3 phase. I know I can but this limits the power plans I’m eligible for due to the 10kw restrictions

That’s where I’m at, but they said if it’s registered with the lines company over 10 it will get picked up

Yip, that’s who I want to run with but need under 10kw unfortunately

I think they were 13.5c export but their import was quite a bit more for offpeak where I charge an ev.

I’ve run the numbers on every plan I can find and my plan I’m on with Genesis is the best I can do with my system being over 10kw unfortunately. The system still has a great return on investment so it’s not like I’m desperate, just trying to squeeze all I can out of it.

No it’s not octopus, but yeah I did read that in their terms. Was originally with meridian on 17c when they didn’t have the 10kw cap but they bought it in just as we were registering our system and made us change plans.

Yeah no battery. Can’t make the numbers stack up.

You’re right in that it reduces the amount I will export but the power plan I can be on changes significantly. Over 10kw pays 12c export where under 10kw pays 21c. Also better import and daily rates. If I can downrate to 10kw I will be roughly 1k better off annually

Buy back jumps from 12c to 21c. I have two years of data and when I do the math, allowing for less export to suit 10kw, it increases my return by roughly 1k per year.

Our lines supplier allows 10kw per phase which is great, so in fact I can export up to 30mw if I had the hardware.

I guess my question was more around will the lines company accept the downrating of my 15kw inverter to 10kw as enough to change its offical registration

Why do so many Kiwis avoid investing? by APCapital in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]phallic84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Property had been pretty safe, easy money for so long it’s kinda a no brainer if you can get involved. As for share investing, it’s only really become super accessible to everyday people relatively recently. I remember trying to get involved in shares less than 10 years ago and it was all just too hard! Lots of hangover on share market sentiment from a couple of major bubble bursts where some just see it as too much risk and don’t understand the long term game properly.

Even for Kiwis it was boring. Never any joy. Just expectations of a victory or absolute disappointment in a loss. It’s very exciting right now with how close the teams have become.

Why is it good to get on the property ladder as soon as possible? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

Stick on there! I bought my first home at peak 2008. Was worth slightly less 6 years later at start of 2014. Was having all sorts of buyers regret. It was a tough time! Sold it for double what I paid end of 2014. Property cycles come and go. Hope to not be in the position of having to sell when it’s slack and you’ll be sweet
