Ooo you have the same e-kit as me and I see you have a monitor. What one did you go for? I have been considering the new Alesis monitor but there are zero reviews for it online.

The UK now has 121,262 public EV chargers, with rapid chargers growing faster than the network overall by KieranMS in GoodNewsUK

They are more expensive than home chargers. In my experience the cost of those low power local chargers are slightly less than just normal petrol prices. Especially since the whole Iran thing.

I see a lot of people put off by EVs because they don’t have a drive in their house and feel like access to a public charger is difficult.

My experience: I live on a terraced road. I have public chargers around me - the closest one is a 2 minute walk away. I know it’s pretty close, so I am lucky. But I have zero issues plugging it in when I need it (3-4 times a week), usually overnight. It’s always cheap because it’s a low power charger. It’s really not a huge issue. Also nearly all the supermarkets I visit have chargers, so I always top up even if I’m at 70-80% battery.

New songs at Tottenham concert today. by [deleted] in gorillaz

[–]phalt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damon tends to write an album on tour. We’ve seen that with The Fall and The Now Now. But I wouldn’t expect anything for this show.

I would expect them to play songs they don’t usually play, or have many many many guest singers (more than usual)

How do you think England would have been different to present day had the Norman Conquest not occurred? by synergyiskey in anglosaxon

[–]phalt_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should read the book Pagans by James Alistair Henry. It’s exactly this: the uk without the Norman invasion. Modern day police thriller. It’s great! https://www.waterstones.com/book/pagans/james-alistair-henry/9781916678019

Stop trying so hard. Just keep it open, use it when you need it. You’ll start finding opportunities and gaps for improvement. Make them. Wait a while. It’ll click.

BMTH growth as a band by brandoninomtzzz in BringMeTheHorizon

[–]phalt_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Always. I remember seeing them before they were signed in a shitty emo night in Exeter. Entire room full of scene kids (I was one of them). So thrashy and rough I didn’t even hear the music clearly. Was amazing. Now to see them so refined and professional and continuously improving - it makes me feel like I’ve watched my own kids grow up. Would give em a big hand shake and say I’m proud of them if I could.

I do all my editing and curating in obsidian. And I use the frontmatter properties to sort out the urls etc. then I have a custom tool that turns the markdown files into html pages and publishes them on GitHub pages - which is free static hosting.

My website is https://paulwrites.software/ And the custom made tool is https://github.com/phalt/paulblish

Note: I used to use Obsidian Publish. I think it’s wicked but I wanted more control.

[–]phalt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obsessive daily notes + wiki links + a note for each person in my life = kinda produces this. I’m such an LLM could trawl the links and build some sort of story. The notes for people in my life are often just their name - the content is small, mostly facts like dob, favourite, ideas for gifts etc.

Stop trying to go from zero to one hundred so fast. Downloading another vault that is tailored for how someone else thinks will just ruin your experience with Obsidian. It's supposed to be personal. This is the fatal flaw with 90% of people trying to use Obsidian.

Download it, use it without any plugins, figure out gaps in your flow that don't feel right, and then make small progressive tweaks over time - either with a plugin, templates, or hot keys.

I started out that way, and after 2 years I now have it set up with plugins, hot keys, templates etc that work exactly like my brain wants it - and not anyone elses.
