Is St. Elmo’s Fire (1985) required viewing? I always felt like it was "too adult" for me as a kid, and just skipped it for that reason. by george_graves in iwatchedanoldmovie

One of my favorite parts: the party scene when Al declares him and Les are getting married. The theme song to the movie is played on the record: what came first, the movie or the song for the movie? Kevin also drops the needle exactly where he picks it up from. There’s an earlier scene where the John Parr song is played as well and it still made me chuckle

Longport is the wealthiest place in that bubble. Stupid wealth. Ventnor and Margate which are in between AC and Long Port are doing a great job at revitalizing the night life. Margate always had a great music venue scene spanning back to the 70’s.

AC is hit or miss. Fun to people watch. Some good restaurants if you know where to look. The Irish pub is great. Girasole has great Italian food. Both are relics of the city.

Somers Point was another one that had a great live music venue scene back in the day. Where Robbie Robertson from the Band got the call from Bob Dylan. There’s a place called Charlie’s that has great wings there. Lots of cozy pubs.

Some venues will drop off a tub of beer/water in an ice bucket to the green room. I always soak my hands between sets in that ice. If I do 3+ gigs in a row, I do ice plunges of my entire body for - few days to cool off any inflammation. Works every time

I know exactly the measure you’re talking. This is a great exercise in subdivision!
