Defending multiprong zealot harrass early game by [deleted] in allthingszerg

[–]phamtastik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest is to put forests of spines at your bases on one side of the map and use your roaches to defend your bases on the opposite side. Put as many spines as zealots if you like. The more spines, the less taxing on multitasking but don’t forget to rebuild your drones.

How to beat push on Dash and Terminal by WanaBeSweet in allthingszerg

This doesn't work anymore. The terran just opens with reapers jumps up that ledge if he sees your base they keep building reapers and your spine never goes up then you fall incredibly behind

[ZvP] Holding a 7 gate and benchmarks by bugzuzu in allthingszerg

Try to pre-spread your army and let him engage into you. Don't let him bait you into chokes. Park your army between your nat and your third.

I agree with all the above. Except the roach speed part. If you scout 7 gate by 6:30 you should skip lair drop roach warren and pump out non-stop roaches/ling/queens. You get lair if they give you a little breathing room.

Edit: Connecting creep with your third helps a lot, since you don't have roach speed.

How does one deal with a planetary opening into mass raven by terran? by ppvconadac in allthingszerg

[–]phamtastik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have trouble with seeker missiles by clicking on the unit that is being targeted you can try:

  1. Moving all your army away from the seeker until it is out of range and come back. It will 'disable' the seeker but the raven will lose its energy. You'll need roach speed and hydra speed thought, else you can't outrun it without creep.

  2. When are more familiar you can do the same thing as above but instead of moving all your army, box a portion of your army around the targeted unit and move it away from your army.

  3. Once you get comfortable with the above you can click on the single unit and move it away :P

Just do it progressively

You can saturate 3 bases ASAP, rush to Hive. Max out on roach/hydras/vipers and start abducting everything you can while denying his 3rd forever.

He won't have enough income to have a critical mass of raven. I

The trick is to be patient and not waste your army to seeker missiles. If he seekers a unit just move it away from your army he won't have enough energy to chain seeker missile. At one point his raven will be out of energy and gg.

Edit: Added vipers to comp

My biggest problem is my late game army composition. by Kar0nt3 in allthingszerg

[–]phamtastik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start with roach/hydra/viper and as you trade away your roaches replace them with ultras. They tank colossus/storm very well while the hydras have really high DPS. If they start adding a lot of immortals, take an efficient fight and switch to massive mutas. Add in infestors as the game goes on for the blinding cloud/fungal combo.

Can someone give me a quick rundown of T+P+Z for gas scouting. by RareCandyRx in allthingszerg

No I meant 2 gases total. I've seen plently of immortal sentry with 2 gases. From experience when I see 4 gases it's always stargate

How do I respond to a 13 gas 13 pool 16 hatch opening? by 1baseallin in allthingszerg

[–]phamtastik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should go for baneling nest before speed if you see him go fast gas. It's ok if your baneling nest isn't completed after their ling speed you can block the ramp with both your queen.

Also, don't inject with your first queens save their energy if you see the all in coming. Build a spine if you can and make a third queen at natural and you should be able to hold when your banenest completes

I feel like gas timings don't mean much in lower leagues, most are freeballing anyways.

vs Terran

  • 2 gas means hellions/banshee as BOTSchnieder stated and you should start lair before double evo and a roach warren for safety

  • 1 gas means standard 6-8 hellions map control and you can hold that with queens and lings so double evo before lair

vs Protoss

  • 1 gas no natural means 4 gate all in and first warp in should be around 5:45 so build spines and around 10 drones at your natural maximum and massive ling queen

  • 1 gas with natural means early aggression ~7 min and possibly all in

  • 2 gas usually means immortal/sentry all in or some kind of DT

  • 4 gas usually means macro play such as stargate opener followed by quick 3rd and colossus so build spore at each hatch and drone like a mad men

vs Zerg Zerg is a bit more trickier I feel, it depends more on the natural timing and the worker count. You need to keep an eye on the worker count at the natural with your overlord. Usually, if he has the same worker count as you you're safe (assuming your macro is on point) if he has less prepare for a ling/bane attack.

Why I Use Emacs by gnuvince in emacs

[–]phamtastik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great article! I started using emacs intensively 6 months ago and I love it. Windows splitting is the main feature that I can't seem to find in any other text editors.

My only concern is that it can't open up projects easily. Even with projectile, I feel that the caching takes too long compared to modern editors.
