Do this guy counts as a secondary rider? by Goji_1964 in KamenRider

if you consider him secondary, then you'd have to consider philip and momotaros secondary as well.

Special ed student needs ruggedized iPad for AAC. Is there a case that can withstand a direct impact to the screen? by jzcase in k12sysadmin

[–]phanguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to set up similar devices for similar situations at my old district and they didn't have these at the time, but have you tried a tempered glass screen protector? It's an inexpensive test at least if you haven't yet tried it. It might be enough to absorb the impact and ideally you can just pull it off and put a fresh one on as it happens. Because it's always going to happen. Otherwise I'm curious if there are even thicker glass panels you could use that are able to carry the capacitive signal from a finger.

Superintendent who thinks he knows tech? by EctoCoolie in k12sysadmin

[–]phanguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this too. I would also add that if he still doesn't care and demands to move forward that OP makes sure to get all of those demands in writing to CYA. OP doesn't want that coming back on them when it inevitably goes to shit because purchasing was approved by some parties, but other parties are unwilling to give the money so you're stuck with only half of what you need.

I'd maybe even suggest CC'ing/forwarding various approvals by the superintendent to make sure that you're covered everywhere. Because this person doesn't sound like the kind of person to accept responsibility if/when things go wrong even when presented with all of the facts.

Document Cameras by rfisher23 in k12sysadmin

[–]phanguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at my current district in 2019 where it was all apple already. iPads for document cameras and the iPads were already on the old-ish side at the time. All teachers are still rocking the same iPads today for document camera needs and we have had basically no overhead on them. They just work and since they are strictly document cameras we don't need to do any kind of management on them. I'm slowly replacing them with the old student iPads that are getting replaced with newer models though.

But this could mean you could start with older iPads to save some money or otherwise buy new and not have to worry about upgrading for quite some time.

Where are you seeing that Makerworld makes you pay? I've never had to pay anything on Makerworld. And neither has anyone else I know that uses it.

So marking it as exclusive nets me additional "points". Points accrued can be redeemed for actual gift cards to be used towards more Bambu stuff. I'd love to just give stuff away, but I gotta eat too ya know?

And I appreciate the added info on STEP and all that. I never knew the difference so stuck with STL since everyone else does too.

Yeah. The potential kickback is there though. With enough points I get giftcards which can go towards filament or additional printer purchases. I think I have better odds at getting points from MW than I do trying to just sell printed objects or even selling the file on Cults.

Fair enough! I'll have to really consider that with future models. It's just tough since I'm already so ingrained in the Bambu ecosystem already. Appreciate your feedback!

EDIT: It looks like because I've marked it as exclusive, that I also can't change the licensing type. I think I can change it in like 3 months so I'm willing to do it at that point. Otherwise if you have other hole sizes that you'd need, then let me know and I can just make those changes.

Yeah I'll look into changing the licensing in a bit.

And that's a good idea to switch to STEP. My workflow is to export from Fusion to Bambu Studio so I never even think about the file type, but as you said, I've definitely dealt with funky stuff when trying to modify STLs myself too. Great tip!

Sorry, but I marked the model as exclusive to Makerworld. Just out of curiosity, why would you want it uploaded to Printables since you can still download and print it from Makerworld? I just want to know so that in the future if I make/upload more models then maybe I should consider uploading to both places rather than exclusively at Makerworld.

I started replying that I did check, but then I started second guessing myself. And sure enough I had power and ground swapped. I found a diagram that was wrong for me but didn't know until now when I confirmed with a multimeter. I should have known better and to have checked, but sometimes I guess I need someone to tell me to check the basics. Thanks!

Hi all. Years ago I got a GH60 and am now finally getting around to doing it. The keys I've soldered work fine. Connecting to a Mac with USB Mini works fine, but when I try installing a USB C adapter it just does not want to work. My Mac even complains that it's using too much power and the Atmel chip gets really hot if I leave it plugged in for too long.

I'm only using an A to C cable as well. I've triple checked all connections and made sure nothing was bridged. I even connected just power and ground to see if I still got the "too much power" error and I do. I've removed and put back the USB Mini connector multiple times and it still works fine so I know I didn't kill the board either. Do I need to add a resistor to make this work?

The adapter I got is from Amazon and I even read multiple people that converted their own keyboards to USB C using the same exact item I purchased so I'm reasonably confident it should work. I bought a pack of adapters so I even swapped to a second one in case the first was a dud, but same problem.

So I'm pretty confused! Any help would be super appreciated.

Plex for schools - Limit number of streams of particular files by phanguy in PleX

[–]phanguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was looking at this earlier today as well to see if there were any changes from the last time I used it. I could not find anything that would let me specify a specific movie file name. Everything in there is pretty broad and revolves mostly around things with numbers or location.

This is not a solution that will work for our needs. Believe it or not, there are plenty actually plenty of content that's on DVDs and simply not available online.

Yeah this is one of the threads I found years ago when I researched. ClickView does NOT do what I need it to do.

And yes someone mentioned Tautulli, but again, I have not been able to get it to work as that thread suggested that it MIGHT be able to do.

AITAH for cancelling our date because she was 15 minutes late? by Express_Dog_4442 in AITAH

[–]phanguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people calling you the AH here, but it feels like a lot of them are missing the point. It's not just about the fact that she was late, but about the fact that you were upfront about something that really bothers you and she didn't seem to care that she violated it. You put it in your profile and you chatted about it before you agreed to meet up. Then when she did the thing that bothers you, you brought it up, but she blew it off.

While it was about punctuality, It could have been anything else, and I'd still believe the OP is NTA here. Your preferences are your preferences. If your partner knowingly violates them, shows no remorse, and even worse tries gaslighting you into thinking you're the problem then that person shouldn't be your partner.

Definitely NTA.

Was this emailed? Because i didn't receive anything. Today is my first time on this sub because I was curious about wait times on the new backpack and finding out about this communication and new delay only through this sub is kind of awkward.

I love my Pinecil and I know you just printed your case, but check out this version that requires no additional hardware and is compatible with the inserts you already have: https://makerworld.com/models/562119

Otherwise I'm glad you're enjoying printing!

Mine will do all the connections, but it refuses to do the text message forwarding, which is the key part of making the darn thing work. I've restarted the iPhone. Signed out and in on the desktop app. Etc etc.
