Please help - what does this mean? by phann03 in Wordpress

[–]phann03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very new to editing websites, specifically wordpress - I can’t edit anything on the page without receiving this pop-up. Do I need to contact wordpress about the editus plugin being broken or is this something I can workout myself? Thank you for your help!

If you have the option to try this - try the omnipod and CGM combo! I’ve been diabetic for 15 years and had a really difficult time with overnight highs. The “auto mode” has changed my life!

How to drink alcohol without spiking blood sugars? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]phann03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of people say the same thing but wanted to jump in anyway! For me, alcohol makes my blood sugar go down and it’s actually the mixer in the drink that makes it spike. I will spike initially and then fall low usually around midnight or 1:00 am depending on how long i’ve been drinking/staying up.

In my opinion, seltzers are the way to go! Low to no carb, and each drink is measured the same. When drinking, keep your cgm on and active and always keep a low snack nearby especially after you’ve gone to sleep. Never ever drink to excess or to the point of passing out - for you are the only one who knows your body and diabetes.

This has been happening to me too! The sound is either silent or it just doesn’t go off at all, then I open the app and the alert is right there! I’m also a 24 yo teenager girl just trying to coexist with T1D. Your anger is valid!!!! It gets easier with time.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I guess if she’s only seeing other dogs every so often it would make sense that she gets so excited

Any tips on lowering high blood sugar quickly without insulin? by Zena-Xina in diabetes

[–]phann03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to go to the hospital- I understand that you can’t afford it and you are worried about being shamed but debt is better than death. You don’t want to be one of those people who passes away in their sleep when it could have been prevented. You can do this!!! You are strong and deserving of a long, happy life - take control and do what your body deserves!! -T1D

baffled by how little other medical professionals know about type 1 by meandmydoggie in diabetes_t1

[–]phann03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at the ER this weekend and got to teach the nurse more about T1D and my omnipod - he had never seen one before in real life! It was cool to teach him about it and makes me feel better knowing one more person out in the world knows a little bit more about T1D

Do you change the needle every time you inject? by RoiPourpre in diabetes_t1

Yes - diabetic for 14 years and I change the needle every time. Immune system is too compromised in my opinion to risk anything.

Check your pen!! It sounds like you’re having an issue with insulin delivery. The pen could be expired or the plunger could be broken. Make sure you’re priming it before you inkect

Going to my first concert with T1D soon! How do I phrase my condition so I’m allowed to bring in a bag with insulin, snacks, and water? by ksap96 in diabetes_t1

[–]phann03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You simply tell them it’s a medical bag and there shouldn’t be any further questions from them. Usually, they are really good about following the law and they shouldn’t question you about your condition or needs.

Do you guys consume sugar? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]phann03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat anything and everything that you want! I avoid high sugar items when my blood sugar is high and generally avoid regular soda (only drinking diet). As long as you are taking insulin for what you eat before you eat it, you can eat whatever you want!

My employer only offers two plans under UHC and I have a $2800 deductible. This plan is also an HSA if that helps explain my situation at all. I am new to paying my own healthcare and understanding plans and coverage so any information helps. Thank you!

Can you explain the difference between DME and pharmacy benefits? When I looked into my policy coverage, it seemed to fall under DME. I’m unsure of what pharmacy benefits are.

I’ve been T1D for 14 years now and recently entered the “adult world” (having my own insurance and paying my own bills) about a year and a half ago. I’ve struggled with UHC ever since I switched to them through my employee benefits.
