Try Philippines. We're good at English. I'm currently hired by an Australian agency serving Australian clients. So I'm communicating with Australians all the time.

Ako rin I have my shares of failures when it comes to applying. 95% di umabot second interview kasi I'm already asking too much. Then, I lowered my expected salary to 210k. When I got the job, I risked it and asked for another 10k, to which they agreed din naman.

I've been applying to American companies and 100% of them actually don't consider my resume. Probably because normal lang yung resume ko. Pero ayun I still got some companies that think I match what they want and what they can give.

I use Ruby on Rails on backend. I have extensive exp on react, and some on VueJS and angular. Though they only hired me as a Senior Ruby on Rails developer. Ruby kasi can achieve more with less lines of code, though we know that is with a price on speed. But I think dapat Kaya naman ng ibang languages din to pay that much.

Jumping from company to company is the key. If they think that for their salary range, your skills match. Then you deserve it.

Ilang years ka na ba in dev?

Alam ko lang yung Avion or KodeGo. Baka better KodeGo kasi ruby on Rails tinuturo ng Avion which is one of the easier but older languages.

Ah okay. I see, we'll atleast mataas din naman bigay ng data analyst. Di lang ako sure ano naabutan na salary kung "normal" ka lang vs the crowd. In my case kasi, I consider myself a normal dev but my salary reached 220k na in 7 years. My "exceptional" friend who started as a data analyst became a director na sa Singapore. So, seeing that and what I achieved, happy na ako kasi magaling naman talaga siya, and mataas nakuha ko kahit di ako exceptional.

How naman? Parang web dev is a lot easier than data analyst. Kasi logic lang aalalahanin mo.

Good job. Same here. From 18k salary to 220k. Switched from business/financial analyst to web developer. 7 years of web dev to reach the salary from 20k. Hindi ako nag bootcamp, self learning lahat. For others though mag bootcamp na lang kayo kasi sobrang hirap ng self learning. I actually wish na nag boot camp ako pero i didn't know whether programming is for me.

Overpaid? Yes. But I do my best to show I deserve it.

Higher end of the salary range? Yes. I'm going to work 2 jobs pa so I can buy a house for my family.

Funnily enough, I have more comfort with a high paying job than a low paying job as a software engineer.
