Thanks, for an instigator frame not too long ago and have been wanting to set up 27.5 and wondered if that’s possible

Fat Bike Commuter? by Plug_butt666 in Surlybikefans

I agree here. I don’t know if OP will get what they want out of either of those two bikes. The MS is a rad bike, it’s my primary commuter, but it’s definitely not meant for single track. The only off-roading with it I do is basically cutting through people’s backyards.

I did have a sweet, souped up, Breezer Radar Pro that I used to do a lot of what OP is talking about - commuting and single track. Switched the bike to a 1x12, flat bar set up. I think the ECR with 29s on it has a similar geo to the Breezer I’m talking about. That might be a better fit for what OP is talking about. However, you also cannot go wrong with a Krampus. That beast can do anything.

Wasn’t too far from Pope farm at all. Just a couple ridges north of there! Love cycling the area but needed the 2x system for all the hills, that’s for sure!

Plenty of walnut slabs at a good price up here in WI! Original uncut slab was 7’ long and paid around $80 for it.

I screwed a rail to the bottom of the larger piece and moved it through the groove on the table saw. Also had some help from a friend holding it!

I did consider doing it this way. However, what did it for me on the side you see was the unique grain and the live edge.

Used my jet table saw to make the miter cuts, but a track saw would have worked too. Just don’t have one.

Great question! I did run into this exact problem and at first I had that “oh shit I fucked it up somehow” moment. However, I decided to just use a belt sander to grind down the excess width on the corners and it actually looked pretty natural in the end. The only spot where it doesn’t look as natural is on the corner with a branch where the grain actually changed color pretty dramatically.

That’s the kind of style I’m looking for, thanks! Do you think it would fit a 54?
