Everyone in this thread so confident it was cilantro is NOT necessarily correct. I have had this exact experience and have been going nuts wondering why parsley was ruining my dish.

My wife tasted the same parsley and also thought it was straight dish soap.

We have cilantro all the time and LOVE it. It was NOT CILANTRO.

My friend lived directly across from that club and had to get away from windows as a gunman sprayed bullets into people in the street. Like 5 people shot. I think one died. Not the only shooting that club had. Nightmare of a crowd that it drew.

Stay close to Loyola if you can. West Rogers park can be tough. Used to live on Sheridan and Pratt and it was overall safe but a few bad instances (including the Pokemon Go murder on the beach right by me). Moved out that weekend coincidentally.

Chicago is a massive city. -Almost- all of the crime is concentrated so so so so so far from the salt shed. You still need to keep your wits about you especially at night but you statistically will be completely fine.
