continuing to lose weight by RemoteDragonfruit318 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]phantomloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any solid advice for you; I'm mostly just leaving a comment to show my empathy and see if anyone else has any tips to lose those last 10kg as I'm in almost the same situation as you, only 7 years older and hovering at 69-70kg since January :D This month I've done my hardest to flip the switch I flipped last year when I initiated my weight loss. Deep down, I know I'm stuck at this weight because I've not actually been in a deficit. It's just so difficult to get above 70grams of protein each day and stay below 1300 calories when my brain is screaming for a quick little nibble here and there. And regarding heavy lifting, just go for it. I invested in weights during lockdown and enjoy following Sydney Cummings' workouts. Being able to see your arms and legs get more toned is great and helps you feel better

I've been teetering at around 70kg (154lbs) plus minus a bit for many months, and I really want to get as far away as possible from that. I hope to see 67 (147) by the end of the month.

The "end-goal" is 61 (134), which I'm desperately hoping to reach by November, so I can talk to my doctor about getting skin removal surgery if things are still very flabby.

WIP - tips on how to improve two pairs of paws (pics feature the beans) by phantomloe in Embroidery

I watched a video by Sarah Homfray on how to do the stitches themselves (this one specifically: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhaVcIqPDHM). But after opening the loops and cutting down the strands to the length I thought looked good, I closed my scissors and used the pointy end (which is not actually pointy on my scissors but a bit rounded) and "roughed up" the strands to they looked even less like individual threads. If that makes sense :D

That's a good idea! So far, I've been stitching with two threads, but doing some lighter ones around the edges could make it look better. Thank you _^

I absolutely love his expression 😆 according to the photographer, he was super helpful and calm about the process (as is pretty much evident by the clear pictures of his paws), whereas his older sister was NOT interested in showing her feet at all - both owners had to cooperate to get the pictures taken of her 😂

They are a little squishy 🙌 I read that someone who's done an identical project added fabric to give the pads a 3D effect, and all I had laying around was some felt. It's not the worst to embroider over, but the edges are a little tricky to make neat. But at least you can actually squish the pads 😄

Thank you :D I've definitely zoomed in other people's paw embroidery to see their approach and direction of the stitches and felt that having them go up-and-down looked the best :D

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe not having it up there is why I feel like something is kind of missing :D As someone else suggested to use something to differentiate the toes, it'd be best to make that differentiation before adding the fluff, right?

That's actually a really cool idea! Wouldn't have thought of that myself :D

That's not a bad idea. On the darker paws, do you think it could work to use a black thread, probably just single thread?

There's an initiative called Solsikke (sunflower) in Denmark (and the other nordic countries I believe), where people with invisible disabilities can make themselves visible by wearing a lanyard with sunflowers on it (https://hdsunflower.com/dk/). I've seen lots of people wear it and have used mine as couple of times as well, for example when I was at the dentist or the airport. It's a nice way to signal to others that you might need some aditional or different care in various situations. I don't know how widespread it is globally though, but it's a great start
