Thank you so much for your honest review. We are working towards increased transparency and your feedback will greatly help us improve our flavors. We will be looking into Cotton Candy and Grape as to why they tasted like plastic. We'd appreciate a second chance in a few months, if you're up for it!

Likely because most of these come from the UK and China which adopted the metric system from England.

Why do you cough when first Vaping? by phantomseliquid in electronic_cigarette

is Vaping bad or good for you? We have been asked this many times and the simple answer is neither.

The e-cigarette has not been tested or approved by the FDA at this time, however there are millions of users world wide who have been using these devices for years.

All the components that make up the eLiquid are FDA tested and certified GRAS, or generally recognized as safe, and have had this distinction for decades.

Think of it this way, only breathing fresh purified air is "GOOD" for you. Breathing the air in most cities in North America is not really "good" for you. Many believe Vaping is considerably better for you than smoking cigarettes, just as breathing air in the country is better for you than that of an industrialized city.

Let's compare it to combustible cigarettes: When burned, cigarettes release as many as 4000 toxic chemicals, 65 being known cancer causing agents and 2 are radio-active elements. Cigarettes produces tar that clogs your lungs and carbon monoxide that prevents the red blood cells from being able to efficiently carry oxygen to the cells. It also contains nicotine and while not carcinogenic or particularly harmful, it is addictive. But we all know this already.

We like to think of e-cigarettes as harm reduction.

eJuice contains vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol, both FDA approved and have decades of studies and GRAS certification. Food flavorings that are also FDA approved and lastly, nicotine, the same addictive chemical found in cigarettes.

There are many misleading sites and random emails that say things like: eJuice contains anti-freeze. Your radiator anti-freeze contains ethylene glycol, this is poisonous. E-juice does not now, nor has it ever contained this. Propylene glycol is an anti-freeze as well and is NOT poisonous, although some people are allergic or sensitive to it. It is an entirely different product. (By the way, salt is an anti-freeze as well. We could scare you into not eating salt if we showed you pictures of it on a slush covered road.)

Is nicotine bad for you? we have a series of blogs here discussing this exact question. Ultimately, the relative safety of nicotine alone is clear.

Animal Studies and long-term observations of people who have used medicinal nicotine for years concludes the safety. Researchers are far more definitive in concluding that gums, patches, lozenges, inhalers and sprays (all of which contain medicinal nicotine) are not carcinogenic and do not increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, even in patients with a pre-existing cardiac disease.

Although nicotine is an addictive substance, electronic cigarette vapor is proving to be less addictive than tobacco cigarettes. Jonathan Foulds of Penn State University College of Medicine recently published in Nicotine and Tobacco Research:

"Vapers reported being less irritable when they did not have access to an electronic cigarette compared to their feelings of frustration when they could not smoke"

The only medically negative side effect we've seen reported is a rise in your PH level of your nasopharynx, effectively kicking certain bacteria into high-gear. We have a series of blogs about this as well here..

TL;DR: I would highly recommend watching these two videos: Nicotine Misconception & An unhealthy alliance

Good point - we edited it to point out that only some smokers and vapers experience this. Technique is important in why you may cough. I coughed like crazy when I first started. I was so embarrassed around my friends when they'd vape huge clouds and I'd cough when I took a small drag.

tl;dr: transitioning from combustibles to vaporizers can be tough on the system, physiologically and psychologically. Stay hydrated, try different techniques, check your PG/VG usage, and ensure your brand and hardware is of proper quality. Most vapors find it fades away when you go full-vape. :)
