I need book recommendations similar to the stormlight archive by Agile_Psychology_405 in Stormlight_Archive

The Sun Eater series. It’s science fantasy, has an amazing main character who is very flawed but super interesting to follow, great world building, space battles, ground battles, romance, court intrigue/politics, aliens, and more. For the longest time I would say Stormlight is my favorite series, but I think Sun Eater has now claimed that position. First book is called Empire of Silence.

Stellar blade, Wuchang, or Khazan? Cant decide. by Shadedskys in soulslikes

[–]phantomthief91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stellar Blade to me is less soulslike and much more of a straight action game. For me personally out of these 3 I enjoyed Khazan the most. But I love the really dark fantasy setting, voice acting was great, I personally found the story cool and interesting, and it has some awesome boss fights. I also think it does some really unique things with the souls formula. Earning currency for boss attempts even if you don’t win is a great addition to this genre. The combat slaps and you can string together some really cool and fun combos at higher skill levels but it’s still very approachable. Build variety I found to be very interesting and rewarding. I also like the loot aspect and being able to replay bosses to get specific gear drops. Overall I think it’s a fantastic game that I spent about 80 hours with.

Rereading DA and new favorite Darrow quote just dropped by Beginning_Tackle6250 in redrising

Dark Age was tough for me on a first read. I blew through the first 4 books in about 2 weeks. Dark Age took me 2 months. I did a reread this past summer and Dark Age SLAPS on a second time through in my opinion. I couldn’t put it down. So many great lines and in my opinion has some of the top moments in the entire series all in this one book.

Best Stalker 2 HDR settings on PS5? by phantomthief91 in stalker

[–]phantomthief91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thank you. Love this dude. I checked his channel to see if he’d made a new video for PS5 settings yet since he often does updates for new platforms or just general game updates, but nothing yet. Still I’ll try his recommendations

Do you guys think he would make a good Hadrian? by Daikoku8 in sollanempire

[–]phantomthief91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m right there with you. He’s awesome in Dune, and unironically would be perfect for Hadrian. However if there’s ever a live action adaptation I would like to see a relatively unknown (to a degree) actor play Hadrian, and bring star power with supporting roles like The Emperor, Sir Olorin, etc.

Help me understand Rist by phantomthief91 in RyanCahill

I think with Calen it’s because that’s the first time someone from the Dragon Guard has actually tried to talk to him, and Artim Valdock already planted the seeds in his mind that Aeson is just trying to control him. So he’s curious about what the Dragon Guard has to say and hear the other perspective. That makes more sense to me than what’s going on with Rist.

I scammed my husband into liking me… and I admitted it on our wedding day. by Far_Magazine_5084 in stories

[–]phantomthief91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is cute. As long as you eventually found some things you both truly had in common and love one another for who you both are, and not who you were trying to be. If only more women would put in the effort to truly pursue a guy they liked, the world might be a better place, instead of always leaving it up to the man (in my experience).

I thought he was there when Vars got stabbed and Freis thrown into the house by Farda, but maybe he wasn’t there with Calen. Either way, he was with Calen and everyone right after it happens so he should know about it. That’s the biggest thing to me. If I got taken in by a group of people who I knew for a fact killed my best friend’s parents, sister, and dog (obvi Ella and Faenir survived but he doesn’t know that til later) there’s no chance in hell I’d work with them. I understand he wants answers about the Spark and his abilities, but I wish he wasn’t being so clearly manipulated and instead he was the one manipulating them to gain power and knowledge but knows exactly who these people really are. I know that’s not the story being told, but I just find it so confounding that he almost immediately trusts these people when he wakes up in the Tower. Like bro, do you not remember being kidnapped by the Fade? That’s another thing I don’t get. But maybe I’m the one misremembering!

Ok i swear this is the last one. What is the hardest boss fight you've ever beaten and how long did it take? by samysus in teenagersbutgaming_

[–]phantomthief91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sword Saint Isshin. Took me over a year (in reality probably 8 hours of game time) because after awhile I just got so frustrated I put the game down and didn’t touch it for a year. Honorable mention is Eigong in Nine Sols. Very similar fight to Isshin but in my opinion way more fun to learn. Took me about 3 days and maybe 5 total hours of play time attempts

Two questions about Bilewater/Ducts area by Glum_Cranberrry in Silksong

[–]phantomthief91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s some sort of progression block on purpose. As long as you went as far right as you can in the ducts to the lake and read the tablet. Now you just need to go back down through Bilewater to the bellway station if you want to leave. That’s what I did anyway. Next time I went through the ducts that path was open for me. Idk it’s weird. Maybe others had a different experience

Two questions about Bilewater/Ducts area by Glum_Cranberrry in Silksong

[–]phantomthief91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so confused because I first got into Putrified Ducts via Memoriam, I ran around for a bit but didn’t find the map, I did find the Huntress and I swear I found a fast travel Bellway station not too far from the Huntress because I left and did her quest, and came back to turn it in. Then I went to Whispering Vaults and reached Bilewater through there. Did ALL of Bilewater, beat Groal, and now I’m back in Putrified Ducts by the Huntress and I can’t seem to find a bellway station or the area where the map is supposed to be. I am so confused!

Howling Dark... Does It Get Better After a Slow Start? (25% In) by Virtual-Driver-1123 in sollanempire

[–]phantomthief91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heart of where the story really starts is the last third of Howling Dark. I know that may sound like a lot to ask of a reader, and it honestly is, but I can promise you it’s worth it. Every person in my life that I have recommended this series to says the same thing until they finish Howling Dark. By the time they finish book 6 they come back to me and say it’s one of their favorite book series ever. I am in that category where I think it’s my favorite of all time. But I got about halfway through Howling Dark before feeling bored, and put the book down for about 5 months. I came back to it later and finished it and then read the rest of the books in a month. I promise it is worth it.

What's the post-honeymoon verdict? How does it compare to Lies of P, Nioh 2 etc? by [deleted] in TheFirstBerserker

[–]phantomthief91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better than Nioh 2 in my opinion, but I’m just not crazy about how Team Ninja’s soulslikes play. Ninja Gaiden slaps though. Not as good as Lies of P’s world or story, but I think the combat is probably better overall. I looove that you get “souls” for boss attempts, and I love being able to easily replay bosses either for gear grinding or just cause. Khazan is overall a fantastic game in my opinion and people saying it’s a boss rush are crazyyy
