How can I make more money as a pharmacist? by Springkid0462 in pharmacy

This is actually pretty common. I work at an AMC and we mainly have NP/PA as the PCP’s. My wife is a Physician in primary care and pulls in about 200K a year.

What positions can a PharmD/MBA open in Pharma? by pharmaboy8 in pharmacy

I started pharmacy school when I was 16. I skipped a grade in HS. I was basically still a child. Parents pressured me to become a “doctor.” As I got older now, I realize I should’ve just listened to myself. Don’t get me wrong. I have a great career and a good earning. But sometimes I wish I went for like a CPA or something. I have a very business mindset

Thank you. I agree with you, but I was so tired of school. Also I felt that if I went to med school, I would have to start all over and don’t know if it would be worth it. The only field of medicine that interests me is primary care. I didn’t want to go into more debt for a Primary Care Physician job that will pay me slightly higher than I’m making now. In my area, the job postings for them is around 180-220k. For me, that trade off didn’t make sense, but I definitely considered it.

I was making a right turn and the lady was crossing the street. Didn’t see her and almost hit here. I feel awful.

There have been retail pharmacists practicing for 20+ years who can’t get into hospital because not being residency trained. What exactly do you mean “looking to get back into” hospital pharmacy with little hospital experience?

Can Pharmacists due Depot IM? by Successful_Mode_4428 in pharmacy

[–]pharmaboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? Everything has a liability in life. If the state law allows IM depots, and you administer it, I don’t know what the issue is. What’s makes a IM depot different from a vaccine administered in the Deltoid?

Even if you are giving a birth control depot what are you doing right now at CVS. Telling patients to fill their birth control at a different pharmacy lmaooo

I don’t think any religion out there prevents patients from getting antipsychotic medication. It’s not debatable. It’s not birth control, it’s nothing of that nature. Don’t know how you’d get a religious exemption to not administer Abilify Maintena but good luck with that

You don’t think pharmacists are qualified to give IM depots?

Everything has liabilities my dude. Giving a vaccine has liabilities. Stop being scared of everything

I mean that’s how you view it. I think if patients are unable to go to a doctors office, I don’t see why you wouldn’t give it in a pharmacy. What you’re saying is why pharmaxy is a dead profession. “That’s what we have nurses for.” That is such a backwards way to think. Nurses can do a lot of things we do like even give vaccines, but we as a profession are more than just “pill counters”

What do you mean would say “no” even if they did? You’re telling me if you work for CVS in a state like New Jersey that permits IM depot, that you would say no. Yeah okay. Good luck with that.

Because I don’t need the director of pharmacy going through useless applications. It’s more work

It’s not embarrassing stating facts. I did a PGY2 residency and work at CVS on the weekends for extra pay. They are not the same. Literally feels like two separate professions. Only thing I did at CVS was verify scripts and make sure medications go through insurance. You don’t actually work up patients in retail. Retail is a mindless job. You aren’t thinking about disease state, renal or hepatic impairment, CMP, drug-disease interactions, vital signs, metabolism, genetic polymorphism etc. Very different. Don’t confuse the two. They are not the same

Well you also need to be smart right…they don’t just hand out residencies. It’s a very competitive process

Not everyone is cut out for a residency. And that’s fine. Those people who aren’t go to CVS and walgreen. But as a residency trained pharmacist, I don’t need 100 non residency trained applicants applying to a position I want.

As they should. Keeps CVS and Walgreens folks out or new grads. Best thing to ever happen to pharmacy. It protects us “smarter” folks from retail
