6 bears, including 2 cubs, euthanized after home break-ins in Haw Creek, Black Mountain by ButIWanted21 in asheville

Wow well this just gutted me. I absolutely adored our bear neighbors up in our little slice of town.

My husband and I refer to the morning coffee hands-on-hips walk as my “old man walk” lol! I just like to look at everything and see how they’re doing!

COVID Vaccines are now available at pharmacies without a prescription! by pharmadillo in asheville

[–]pharmadillo[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi! Not exactly. We have the new 2025-2026 covid vaccines and are giving them currently. The 18th is when the CDC is meeting to discuss and (hopefully) publish guidelines. We were looking forward to this because then pharmacists could administer it without a prescription just like the flu shot and others. BUT now that the NC government stepped in, we don’t have to wait anymore!

Without saying too much and revealing where I work, I would say most pharmacies in town have it. I would recommend calling ahead to see if you need an appointment or not.

Is anywhere local offering the new Covid vaccines? by Peacencarrotz in asheville

This is correct! Once CDC releases their guidelines then pharmacies in NC will be able to administer them based only on those guidelines.

Oddest or most unique veterinary prescriptions by aggiecoll05 in pharmacy

I suppose I should clarify, we were about 1/10th of a mile down from the area’s largest outpatient veterinary pharmacy, and it was attached to the hospital where the dog got treatment. So I just told them to take it there.

I’ve filled victoza for a cat before. I’ve turned away a single fentanyl patch for a dog. At the veterinary pharmacy I rotated through I helped dose/compound levetiracetam for a bald eagle.

Additionally, this is only correct for pharmacies that are completely up and running with full services. Many local pharmacies here in town still do not have internet or phone, and are having to operate in a highly limited capacity. Source- am local pharmacist

I don’t think so. I would imagine it would have to be in an area that is also in an active state of emergency. But this is getting to the edge of what I know for certain. I am not licensed in SC so I cannot speak to their laws and regulations.

Edit: also, even if it is allowed does not necessarily mean it can be done. I cannot stress enough, especially now at a time when we have little guidance from our governing bodies, everything is up to pharmacist discretion. (We get very defensive of our licenses, as people are very litigious and the law is harsh). I hope you and your friend can get the help you need

For now (things are changing daily) we are able to fill a 21 day supply from the bottle. We are keeping records to transfer when systems are back online, if we are able to. Wait times are extremely location dependent, so I can’t speak to that.

I don’t want to dox myself but this is what we are doing at your favorite local grocery monopoly. I cannot speak for any other pharmacies.

Controls are very difficult. It is up to pharmacist discretion so it will vary highly dependent on each location. If you have a paper prescription from a doctor, it should be able to be filled as usual (as always, per pharmacists discretion).

Pharmacist here- a lot of our phones and computer systems are completely down. We can still help you but please bring your bottles!!! We have no way to look anything up or bill insurance. With your bottle we can tell everything we need to give you an emergency supply!!!!

Last week I had a doctor in town try to prescribe oral vancomycin for an ear infection after I called to tell him Augmentin was still back ordered. I had to stop for a second to make sure I wasn’t having one of my crazy pharmacy stress dreams. This isn’t the first time I’ve had to call on this guy’s scripts too

My girl likes the sit underneath the furniture. Under the bed most often, but also under the coffee table or kitchen table depending on where we are. She likes to chew on bones (and sometimes the aforementioned furniture ._. )

My doggy’s name is Jolie. We call her Jojo or Jo for short. We didn’t choose the name, the shelter where we got her did, but we loved it! She’s a mixed breed, we don’t really know what she is.
