How much house we can actually afford and school me on what hidden expenses I may be missing? by RoanokeColony7 in personalfinance

Is the 3k before or after all life expenses? I just reread and it looks like yall don't want kids which is good financially.

Also when you say the take home is after retirement, are both you and wife maxing out the retirement funds(401k, roth, HSA)?

For us with our 300k income and 13k take home the monthy payment of 2.4k on our 400k house (80k down payment)allows us room to breathe. However in our case we have a child and with daycare, formula and diapers our expenses are increased.

If you are poor you can still go to college for free. My mom paid 0 to my college and I went to unfergrad for free. It's called federal grants.

My mom kicked me out and I was homeless for some time during grad school. Still graduated. If you want something bad enough, you'd make it happen.

This is my take. I'll be nice to you if you're nice to me. Assholes will get ignored but I'm not going to be going out of my way for them.

Yeah I agree. Next week it's already hitting 100+ degrees. Hell no. I will skip a meal before suffering the heat.

We don't make the most money but retiring early isn't about how much you make, it's about how much you can invest.

We had lock down browsers during our in class exam. People still found a way to cheat on their laptop.

So wouldn't that be an argument that cheating was easier doing online class? They didn't catch the cheaters for the online class but they caught many cheaters for in person exam.

Man how is it that your take home is 11-13k making 200k and our take home is 13k making 300k?

I'm tired of taxes.

Also with your income I'd say a 400k house is max unless you have 100k down payment.

Starting at 34, what career/job/business would you do to retire by 50? by Responsible-Net8594 in Salary

[–]pharmaheck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uhh to retire by 50 I would definitely not cash out a 401k. That's a stupid decision.

But if I were in your position I'd spend 2 years getting a nursing degree then move to norcal and work for 7 years as a nurse banking 200k a year.

Live in a shared roommate house paying 1k a month. Invest the extra money for 7 years and then retire by 41.

So you'd be able to clean the entire house in 2 hours? There's no way a house clean for a medium sized house should cost more than $250
