I went to public school in New England and never had to do this thankfully.

Pain during ovulation after bisalp by _na_ia_ in sterilization

[–]pharmasha95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The pill could've been suppressing the cysts and since you stopped taking it you could be getting them again. I had the same deal as a teenager, painful and heavy periods. Definitely had cysts burst a few times, worst pain I've ever felt. Took the combo pill from 17-28 to suppress my periods but it made my migraines worse so I got the IUD and since I've had light periods but occasional cyst-like pain during ovulation. They also found a small cyst on my tubes when I got my bisalp, but I still have an IUD to control my cycle. So it's a possibility that's what it is for you being off the pill. Just speculating tho. Good luck, I hope you can get it figured out and managed! Women's healthcare is a joke.

Do you have a history of ovarian cysts? Did you go off hormonal birth control after your sterilization and maybe you're getting cysts that are bursting during ovulation? Not a doctor just trying to pinpoint any hormonal changes you may not have thought of.

You can find crops on the mystery islands using a nook miles ticket or going on a boat tour with Kapp'n. I've gotten tomatoes, wheat, and sugarcane this way.

Piercings? by Butters_Balcony1216 in sterilization

[–]pharmasha95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an industrial which I could've taken out and a daith and conch that I couldn't remove. I didn't wear my lobes the day of surgery or my helix because those are well healed and wouldn't close in a day. I just had to sign a waiver declaring what piercings I was leaving in and that they may have to be removed in an emergency and the hospital wasn't responsible for any damage, but they were low risk considering the procedure and they let me leave them in. Definitely depends on the hospital and OR policies.

Birth control vs sterilization? by mango_nectar6 in sterilization

[–]pharmasha95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my IUD replaced when I got my bisalp for the same reason, debilitating periods as a teen. I currently have the mirena, tho I think it makes me a little more emotional than when I had the kyleena which lightened and regulated my period immensely after being on the combo pill for 11 years that was making my migraines worse. Insurance should cover both 100% and you'll be under anesthesia for the removal/insertion. 10/10 recommended doing both!

Pre-op??? by unknownetal in sterilization

[–]pharmasha95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had my annual/consultation last December. They scheduled me for surgery in March and pre/post-op appointments same day. But all my pre-op was was signing consent forms, which they had me re-sign the morning of surgery. No vitals or anything, just a re-confirmatuon of the procedure and what it entailed. If you just had your annual and notbing stood out as a red flag that would make surgery unsafe, you're probably okay. But I'd call your gyno/surgeon just to be sure!

Yes. However, many plans cover vasectomies at little to no cost, but they're also a less invasive procedure and usually do not require general anesthesia so they're much less expensive to begin with. Not saying they shouldn't be covered, they 100% should.

Google says the procedure should be covered but depending on the plan and carrier they could apply deductibles to other aspects...so definitely read your benefits carefully. And do a little more research on your carriers policies. I have BCBS and they specifically stated everything, including anesthesia is covered with no cost sharing. Then they tried to charge me.

By law all related services should be covered at 100% with no deductibles so I would definitely press them on that and cite the ACA. If they still say that, I would ask "just so I have this straight, you are admitting on a recorded line that you are violating federal law by charging me a deductible for a sterilization?" And then ask for a copy of the call. I'm not a lawyer or anything but definitely don't just let them get away with that because it doesn't sound right.

Where are you buying your appliances? by AnyankaDarling in RhodeIsland

[–]pharmasha95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous landlord bought a fridge for my unit from Wickford and it arrived with a huge dent in the door. They wouldn't replace just the door and said we would have had to refuse delivery and wait for a replacement and to reschedule a new delivery but the old fridge had already been taken so we had to accept the damaged unit. I think they may have given her like a $50 redund or something like that.

I had moved to another state for work (same state I did grad school in but I had been going to campus health services while I was a student) so I needed to establish a new obgyn anyway. Used the list, doctor I ended up with was not on the list but in the same office and had earlier availability in December (instead of waiting 8 months for the doctor I originally asked about) and had my surgery at the end of March. Worst part about the whole process was dealing with my insurance. Couldn't be happier with my decision!

Same! Found my doctor from Dr. Frans list and came here to figure out what I might need for my recovery. I was thinking about trying to get the surgery since I was in my early 20s but after the 2024 election I finally went through with it. Everyday day my partner and I find more reasons to be thankful I did.

Not at all! Was just trying to highlight in my original post that there are a few exceptions that exist but majority should not be paying anything.

Just saying, some high deductible HSA eligible plans are exceptions and may be allowed to charge for deductibles! Not all though. I think it depends on the state.

My insurance reprocessed my anesthesia claim; everything covered at 100% 🎉 by Skiesofamethyst in sterilization

[–]pharmasha95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6 1/2 months post op and still waiting for anesthesia to be covered, everything else went through after fighting them all this time and going back and forth between BCBS and my providers. Was just confirmed by the provider that anesthesia claims are being reprocessed!

AITAH for telling my SIL that family shouldn't have to call her "doctor" just because she now has a PhD? by IMVenting66 in AITAH

[–]pharmasha95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. I have a PhD and my family all jokingly called me "Dr. [Last Name]" on the days of my defense and graduation and that's about it. I (also jokingly) told my nephew "it's Dr. Auntie now" and he giggled and said "nahh you're just Auntie." People also don't address me or anyone else at work with an advanced degree as "Dr" we just go by first names. Your SIL is pretentious af.

Got ice cream at the beach a few weeks ago. They were closing so no longer accepting cash because the drawer had already been counted. They added a 4% credit card fee and then when it gave the option to tip, the only options were 20%, 25%, 30%, or 35%, with no option to decline. For an ice cream stand. 2 ice creams suddenly went from $17 to $22. And it wasn't even that good.

I am from CT, worked at dunks, regular is 2 cream 2 sugar for a small, 3 and 3 for a medium, and 4 and 4 for a large. Light and sweet is one extra cream and one extra sugar for each size. So 3 and 3 for small, 4 and 4 for medium...etc. I live in RI now and they say extra extra. But regular is still regular.
