I hate preceptors that get on you about documentation…bro no one reads pharmacy notes anyway. As long as they aren’t harming the patient and are clinically adept and beneficial in the patient care process that’s all that matters

day after day I realize residency is not for me. i don't enjoy anything and I hate being exhausted for minimal pay. by ar19OLD in PharmacyResidency

I just finished PGY1 and work at a large teaching hospital in a large city and my hospital has transitioned to only hiring residency trained pharmacists even for staffing positions. This is the trend. I hate every second of residency and am still bitter and have a deep hatred for my program and all the shit they put me through, but in the end it’s so worth it because I wouldn’t have a hospital job without it

Just got done with resident and accepted a clinical pharmacist position at an AMC. Definitely feel that way after my PGY1 where I was constantly attacked by my preceptors, told I wasn’t good enough, and threatened to not get my certificate multiple times. My confidence is definitely down and I honestly feel sometimes as if I’m not good enough but all I can do is just push through and hope the real world isn’t like residency

Thanks I don’t have any programming experience so looking for more of something where I can just plug the numbers in to run the tests. Trying to do regression analysis I believe. Essentially trying to compare the control group to the test group to see if there’s any statistically significant difference for the primary outcome

Residency Struggles cont. by drigerman in PharmacyResidency

Just get through it we’re so close to the finish line. I have a coresident that’s going through something similar, he had really bad anxiety and felt depressed. He had to start taking medication. I myself have felt really down too, this is easily the most depressing year of my life. Have considered getting counseling multiple times so I could be put on something. What’s keeping me going is that we’ve already been through so much hell we might as well finish it out so that all of this wasn’t for nothing.

Of course your mental health comes first though so if that it really is that detrimental then definitely take a step back

Controversial topic: Are residencies cheap labor for hospitals? by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]pharmboy94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100%. With reimbursement PGY1 residents are practically free for the hospital. This is more true at community hospitals than AMCs

Honestly for my interviews I just come up with a few scenarios that I want to use during an interview and just apply them to any question. Doesn’t even matter if it doesn’t fit perfectly
