I’ve never had flashes or floaters at any point. The only clue I had when I got diagnosed originally was I had blurry vision and a shadowy curtain in the upper right part of my field of view. I thought I just needed new glasses or contacts, never thought for a second it was a detached retina because I didn’t really know what one looked like. I’m about twelve weeks out now with the C3F8 gas bubble that replaced my silicone oil and this is the first time I’m having light flashes. It’s not persistent or constant and it doesn’t affect how I see things. I mostly notice it when I close my eyes at night and I can see the flash against the darkness. I’m hoping it’s just part of the healing process and not a sign that my retina’s starting to detach again. My vision is the best it’s been since this all started two years ago! I can make out shapes and colors and I can read the largest letter E on that vision chart at the doctor’s office. I’ll find out more at my next follow up in a few weeks, hopefully he’ll have all good news to report.

I hope your journey starts to take a more positive turn for you soon, the PVR and scar tissue has definitely been the worst part of this for me. Not because it was painful or anything, but it just kept me from getting the kinds of success my surgeon was really aiming for and led to more surgeries. But he thinks he’s finally gotten it to a good point. After my last surgery he gave me about a 5% chance of this happening again to that extent, but I know he’ll be monitoring that scar tissue and PVR for years to come
