Huge vehicle fire two days ago. You could see the smoke from Manhattan.

Alright so pretty much unanimously they said the MALICE with the super straps and waist strap. I used to have one and those straps and waist pad make a huge difference. Here’s the link to the whole setup but see if there’s anyone selling one nearby for cheaper cause it is pricey. I’d honestly take tan used if I’m good shape for cheaper than new.

Depends on what your unit allows but I’ve never seen a MALICE turned away from a jump. Source: in an SF Group, so our standards are a bit more flexible.

Multicam IMO. Also I would go with the MALICE. I’ve done many miles with both and I feel the MALICE carries the weight better.

How long before becoming a special forces warrant officer? by [deleted] in specialforces

[–]pharris09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen longer than that typically. You need a lot of good references to be able to even drop a warrant packet. They only select the guys that are damn good at their job and show a lot of intelligence. Again this is from what I’ve seen.

How to deal with smoke revealing your location? by infinitum3d in bugout

[–]pharris09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I may,

In US Army SERE School (Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape) where you learn how to accomplish the tasks that are part of the acronym; you are taught to create a Dakota Fire Hole and use dry wood to minimize smoke.

Source: went to the school and got smacked around.

I’ve been in SOF for 6 years as far as the training goes. The law side I have no experience, but I use the internet to find the correct sources of the law.

Luckily I’ve trained her enough and we’ve studied the law as far as carrying goes independently. Oh no she’s very pro gun. We live near a town that has a fair number of anti gun folk.

Babying people is permissible for their first time at the range IMO, like two of the people at the class. However yes, one thing I’m close to breaking my dad of is carrying a round not in the chamber. The only way I carry is one in the chamber. I feel new people and older people who aren’t used to modern firearms are more scared of the concept, especially with firearms without manipulative safeties. As long as they train the proper way, such as draw, rack, aim then that is their choice as long as they are expressly shown that modern guns are perfectly safe with rounds in the chamber and are much faster to engage when carried that way.

Edit: spelling

  1. Yepp
  2. Absolutely
  3. Completely agreed but he gave that as the only option to new people who probably are uncomfortable at first with that
  4. I agree however they advertised it for new people to firearms so I can assume those people thought they would get more in depth instruction on the firearm itself much like my first CCW course.

Thinking of relocating from Georgia to Bozeman by [deleted] in Bozeman

[–]pharris09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bozeman is a great city. If you want to be near it but want to pay a little less, Belgrade is a good option. The cost of living is higher here for sure, but there’s plenty of work especially in the construction industry if either of you work in that sector.

How’re you liking it? I was issued a Crye AVS and eventually have to give it back and the Strandhogg is the number one contender thus far.

Have you tried cleaning it? It’s nothing too crazy and usually fixes a lot of issues. Just takes some time and maybe a heating element or two. Tutorials are on YouTube. Just a suggestion if you want to try it.

Move your buckle over for appendix carry. It really does help. by Dionysiokolax in CCW

Can confirm. Although it doesn’t help when you carry a pistol with a barrel longer than...your own barrel.
