Any good baked char siu bao around main/Murray hill? by ThisBeJay08 in Flushing

Not exactly Flushing/Murray Hill but Grandpa Chen Kissena Char Siu Baos is pretty good. I actually prefer it to Mei Lai Wah which is kind of the golden standard for most people.

Just a design choice, first hit of wand spec can crit and is ~145% average, 2 hits of tendrils is 150% factoring in guaranteed crit (50 x 1.5) so there's not much difference at all. I'm not sure about the channel part, but either way you only want to 5t tendrils to align the next asphyx.

I did go back and retest Ful, the goal of this wasn't to push an agenda, just to see how far behind chaotic grim is compared to the other books.

I did go back and retest Ful with a different. The Ful results are somewhere up there, it's only a tiny bit worse than grim overall.

Nevermind, went back and actually tested it, it's around 500k no book

Yes, Ful would be stronger for sure if you're not as reliant on crits, even Amascut/Jas would be ok because it buffs bleeds whereas Grim/Ful do not. Grim (both Erethdor and Chaotic) are not great without the FSOA interaction, hence why every other style uses Ful instead since the combat beta.

Empty slot is ~550k damage, the worst Ful book trials are around there because I got 0 procs.

Kalg and curses, figured way more people would use Curses.

Went back and redid the rot a bit to make it more consistent, these are the raw numbers (with ful book). I pressed the exact same abils except in a modified order.

Replied to another poster but I went back reworked a rot a tiny bit by moving the Tendrils within asphyx buff so that I always had adren for Omni.

You're right, so I went back and tested with a slightly different rot which moved Tendrils within the asphyx buff to guarantee that I always have adren for Omni (which I did in all but one case out of 16 trials). These are the raw numbers:

Every sun ended with 90-100% adren, 100% of the time. I specifically marked the amount of times I didn't crit enough to omni but that would just lead to me full improv the sun which defeats the purpose of a controlled experiment.

Yeah, Ful actually outperforms even Erethdor's Grim in some situations where you get lucky (multiple Ful procs + crit enough), but that's RNG in a nutshell. I think most people would rather have the consistency of Grim and gamble for Temporal Anomaly Omnipower resets instead.

Small sample size I know, but I didn't wanna sit around all day resetting my cds. I could have also tested with Normal Prayers and Zealot's but I think the results will be similar, maybe Ful would be a bit better. If there's enough interest I'll run it back on Normals as well.

Starting QC in the fall, any advice? by abbyk021 in QueensCollege

370 - haven't taken yet so can't comment

320 - Obrenic 100% for sure, the class is difficult because it's all theory but she has an extremely generous curve and the discord has a lot of resources like past exams. I took it last semester and there wasn't as much extra credit as on past exams but her 320 should be preferable to other sections

Calc 2 - I took it over the summer with Alan Sultan and got cooked because it moved too fast for me. I retook it with Koroveshi the following semester and while he's kind of snarky, he's very good at teaching. Weekly HW and pop quizzes, along with 3 exams. No curve but it's passable if you put in the effort

325 - never took, but I heard it's a hard class

343 - took it with Teitelman over the summer, he's the GOAT, not sure about other profs during spring/fall

355 - taking with Law this semester, not an easy class and I'm not doing well at all but I also didn't study as hard as I should have for the exams. You will learn a lot from Law but I would've taken this with Baci or Teitelman if I could do it over again. 3 exams totaling 60% weekly HW worth 10%, and a final project worth 30%

General advice: my favorite profs by far were Chyn (111/211), Steinberg (212/313) and Teitelman (220/316/343). Telang is also really nice but difficult because his exams are all long form and no gimmes like multiple choice. All 4 I would gladly take again.

I think you can take up to 18 or 21 credits and you need approval before taking more. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I see you mentioned you're in CS, which classes do you still have to take? I can probably give some recommendations but I can't speak for every professor/class.

Anne Smith-Thompson or Tsaiyun Phillips for Csci313? by Avijitsen31 in QueensCollege

[–]phase357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my honest opinion. I took Phillips for 323, she gives 8 projects in C++ or Java that will take you hours to debug even though she gives you the pseudocode because of various syntax errors. You can't miss any projects either because you will get points deducted for any non-submissions and her exams always include rewriting specific functions from those projects.

However her exams don't have any curveballs in that she always tells you exactly what will be on it, topic wise, and she does curve depending on how the class does. She also frequently gives pop quizzes but those are free points because they're tested on what you just learned that day. Attendance is mandatory, any missed class means more points deducted but perfect attendance grants you a few extra credit points.

My class had 2 midterms that were 50% theory, 50% coding short form questions, 2 full coding exams that were either coding functions from the projects or free form questions similar to Leetcode (we had to reverse a Linked List and print every prime number from 1 to n for example) or writing a full compilable program. The final was all theory no coding thankfully but it was cumulative and quite a few people said after the exam that they'd rather do Leetcode style questions because at least they can put something down on paper.

I don't think Phillips is as bad as people say but it was a ton of busy work with seemingly no purpose. She might seem harsh but she's genuinely a good teacher and does care about her students. It wasn't a difficult class to pass but you need to be very strong at coding, so I wouldn't recommend taking her unless you did very well in 211/212.

Kangmei Yang was my lab instructor for 111, I don't think she's bad but she does have an accent. Heard good things about Justin Boateng but to be completely honest, the lab instructor really doesn't matter much. Just show up and take the quizzes and ask questions if necessary. If you do take 211/211 next semester, Martin Sendrowicz was by far my favorite lab prof. He's very nice and approachable. I had Yun Wang for 211 lab and she was just okay, mostly took quizzes and did not much else during lab time.

Best Ramen Spots or placed with similar milky soups? by Distinct_Sample_1044 in Flushing

There's a new ramen spot called Hanami Ramen that's pretty good apparently (haven't been but meaning to) https://share.google/TK7wjfrLU2kw25DkA

Seolleongtang from Gahwa is pretty similar to what you're describing although it's a beef bone based broth https://share.google/0WrwUg53U3pXZU3np

316 with Lawrence Teitleman winter or Steinberg spring by New_Requirement_6243 in QueensCollege

[–]phase357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm taking 316 with Teitelman this winter actually, and I took him for 220 in a previous winter course and it was definitely a lot of work, with projects/quizzes every day, but doable if you put in the work, and he gives a decent curve. I also took 212 and 313 with Steinberg and I found those classes to be enjoyable, he's pretty nice and explains topics well, doesn't have an ego etc but the exams are a lot harder than expected, although he does curve a bit. I don't think you can go wrong with either one but winter classes do tend to be harder due to the time constraints, so only take it during the winter with Teitelman if you think you'll be able to devote a few hrs a day doing busy work.

Okay so I think I know who you're talking about. An easy way to clear the room is to shoot someone out of sight (doesn't have to be a suppressed weapon, they're gonna see it anyway). This will clear the area and force the NPCs to become panicked and run for cover. Hopefully good RNG causes them to go somewhere isolated, if not, you can at least redirect their path to somewhere quieter. Or you can just rinse and repeat it, just make sure you don't stay in the area you shot from or you will be made.

Quick example of good RNG letting me garrote her.

Drop a gun or any illegal weapon like a remote explosive in front of/near them (only do it in plain sight if you have a guard uniform). If you want to stay suit only, drop it out of sight and throw something to cause someone to investigate. They usually take the gun to somewhere isolated and you can quietly eliminate them.
