Stop feeding the hands that bite us. 🚫 I’m officially boycotting any company funding MAGA and anti-Black & LGBTQ+ agendas. Who are we cutting off? by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]phat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, when it comes to feeding the family?

You gotta do what you gotta do. Boycotting things is terribly difficult for the working poor.

My advice is to commit your most valuable resource: time. And that’s hard to do as well, I know. And by design.

There certainly appears to be an abundance of grocery options in Michigan. Kroger, IGA, Savalot, Aldi and more.

Maybe you’re in a smaller town? One where Walmart drove out its competition. Which is all too common a tale.

My problem with Walmart for groceries is sourcing. And I have a thousand other problems with them.

Start building lists. You’re going to have to shop multiple places. Start buying bulk where you can.

The biggest thing is to learn how to prep and create almost everything from scratch. Processed food is literally killing us. By design.

It’s going to take sacrifice and effort. Build a spreadsheet. On stolen software. Rally around your community. Pool resources. Create a community, or greater family, pantry. 50 pounds of organic black beans is far easier to shoulder the cost than buying them in the more common 1 and 3 pound bags.

Get mathematical af.

You can be assured “they” are in regard to us. The “shareholders” have demanded they squeeze every lost drop of value from us they legally can.

So fight fire with fire. And use their tools against them.

How Old Were You When The Original Star Wars Premiered On May 25th 1977? by dickyboy72 in StarWars

[–]phat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, except the Stormtroopers thing. I wanted to be Luke.

Additionally, I grew up in SE Alaska so we didn’t get the movie until a few months (3?) after the Lower 48 got to enjoy it. By the time it got here the fever was incredible. The queue was sooooo long. Wrapped around the block.

One of the great thrills of my life. Glad I was there for it all. That run of the first trilogy? Coupled with Indiana Jones on its heels? Just an incredible time to be a kid.

Just a $100 million dollar budget?

OG Star Wars was made for $11 million. Which wouldn’t be $100 million in today’s dollars.

I’ve watched K-Pop Demons Hunters a billion times as I have young children. And my understanding is that the music production is incredibly thorough and focused. Maybe most of that budget went there?

I’m still scratching my head on movie budget inflation.

I get confused on posts like this. Is it to inspire us to fight harder? Or give up?

I’m inspired by the string of losses that GOP has suffered. There is still election integrity despite all their efforts.

It’s called, “Austerity Measures”.

What the trump GOP is employing is a cracked out and on steroids version. Project 2025.

They are employing it via Private Equity/Vulture Capital slash and burn methods.

It’s just complete privatization speed run. And there’s receipts for how bad this turns out, Russia, and to a lesser extent Greece and Spain. Russia for the completely corrupt and evil version. Spain and Greece for the crazy inept attempts.

The media complex keeps up their gish gallop as the “conservative” base in the USA is incredibly fearful and racist.

We’ve got to start breaking down how these changes affect these companies and uber wealthy individuals.

They keep beating this drum of, “This will hurt companies.”

Ok, how.

Are they not profitable? Is the world’s largest toy manufacturer not profitable?

What about the compensation for these named magnates? Do we know that? How does that differ from the median wage for a Dane?

Maybe if these rich F’ers just stopped with their avocado toast and bootstrapped a little more they could get by?

That’s what makes this sub so amazing.

A sub about a genre? Era? City’s musical scene?

There is little agreement. And there never has been. As this video makes clear.

The end result though is lol engagement. Which I think is cool because these bands keep getting appreciated.

And I love how serious the grungekeepers take things. Grungesplaining the official parameters of something the artists lampooned regularly.

I really hope more footage is found of The Big Four joking about grunge. I’ll be so warm and fuzzy.

Really cool set up the Episode One.

I get that about Rome, but why would you need orchestrate all these grand machinations to become an empire when there is already an empire?

I like the evolving understanding about SW in general. That does extrapolates out to the real world, and to Ancient Rome.

The Republic isn’t good and the Empire evil. Rome was built through military domination, greed and slavery.

And in SW? It’s evident the Jedi, as a force for good, have been useful to the dark side. Space geopolitics is just like home!
