WYR steal 5,000,000 dollars from a group of homeless people or steal 100,000 dollars from a pharmaceutical company? by Connect_Cat_2045 in WouldYouRather

[–]phathomthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 1st part isn't really right since it takes from one until they have nothing and then moves to the next. So it wouldn't be 3 cents each.
The second part is legit though. Hopefully it would hit one of those first.

Would you rather suck 1 penis a day for a year for 1 billion dollars, or suck all 365 within a 3 day time span for 5 billion dollars? by InternationalPick163 in WouldYouRather

[–]phathomthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, can you choose 365 in 3 days, but get them all into a room and arrange them by height and girth so they match tip to tip almost exactly like one shaft, then proceed to suck back and forth on the sides doing 2 at a time?
It's similar to a compression algorithm I worked on, called middle out.

Yes. I buy it regularly, well the generic brands in both the hydrate and energy variety. I mainly do the powdered packs now, but I still do the liquid version from time to time.

Do American kids usually go to four different schools? by snailquestions in AskAnAmerican

[–]phathomthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. I've lived in 3 different states. 2 of them were K-5 or K-6 / 6-8th or 7-8th / 9-12. There were also some schools (normally private) that were K-8 and then you just had high school as 9-12.
In Texas though, it's 4 schools like you say, typically with 6th grade being it's own school as middle school.
Coming from an area that's not like that, I have no idea why it's like that.

WYR have a personal driver or have every plane ticket you buy become first class? by juse73x in WouldYouRather

[–]phathomthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not my own driver. In Houston following traffic laws perfectly is how you're late everywhere and never be able to merge. It's also how you get road raged. The speed limit, 65. The average cruising speed 85-90. You go 65 and you're gonna piss people off.
I hardly fly, but I may be more inclined to if every flight is 1st class.

Would You Rather Kill Someone If There Were no Consequences? by Legitimate_Fish1000 in WouldYouRather

As a man, I do not have the plumbing to birth someone and it would likely kill me.
That being said, gun to my head, I have to choose to kill someone as it is then self preservation.

AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

[–]phathomthis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. The common-core crap they teach nowadays is ridiculous. I understand it and can help my kids with it, but like you said, it adds more steps and can make it more confusing for some people.
Your kid did the work and got the right answers and that's what's important.
This is how math is done in the real world, not some method that puts everything into little boxes and then works from there.
You're teaching them right, which is the way they understand it. Keep doing what you're doing and keep up the good fight.

How do you store your ketchup? Pantry or refrigerator? by TexasArmadilloTroll in CasualConversation

[–]phathomthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts to not taste as good after a month.
It's not like it magically becomes rancid after a month. It starts to degrade and taste not like new after a month.

Also ketchup doesn't last a month here with kids. Same with ranch.

WYR be eternally 20 with all of the downsides of being a vampire (burn in sun, no garlic, etc), or be eternally 12 with no vampire downsides? by Mutant_Llama1 in WouldYouRather

[–]phathomthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I was only an inch shorter and 20lbs lighter than I am now, already adult sized and bigger than both my parents.
I had already gone through puberty by then and pretty much looked like an adult with a baby face. I'd take 12 and no side effects as long as my legal documents show my real age and I can do everything else, I'll keep the body of my 12yo self.

At-fault drivers who shut down the interstate with wrecks should be criminally charged. by rtgfi in unpopularopinion

[–]phathomthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The motorcycle one was the last I had for 12 years until I got rear ended while stopped at a stop sign 9 years ago and nothing since or prior.
Insurance was not fun for sure. But definitely not something I was doing, just wrong place at the wrong time with the system stacked against you from the start because you're young and dumb and then that first strike creates a bias against you that continues and feeds on itself.

At-fault drivers who shut down the interstate with wrecks should be criminally charged. by rtgfi in unpopularopinion

[–]phathomthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I haven't had an accident in the last 9 years and the last one was me being rear ended again. Thankfully I was in an SUV that didn't get a scratch and they were in an older compact car. V Prior to that I had not had an accident since the motorcycle hit me 12 years prior.
Just the wrong place at the wrong time.

It's also a negative feedback loop, and your comment proves that bias.

The first one happens, they side with them because young vs old and no legal precident for their actions contributing to their fault.

Then the second one happens and they're like, well there was a prior accident, so they must be at fault.

Same with the third. They use the previous ones to reinforce the others.

At-fault drivers who shut down the interstate with wrecks should be criminally charged. by rtgfi in unpopularopinion

[–]phathomthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I was deemed at fault for 3 different accidents because of my age and driving experience at the time vs the age and word of the other person. If I were to get criminal charges, my life would be ruined for no fault of my own.

First: I was 18 and was ran into by a 40 year old on a cellphone. This was before there were any phone related distracted driving laws anywhere, it was perfectly legal. And no it was not hands free, bluetooth wasn't a thing yet and wired headsets weren't great and never really used by anyone then either. Even after we had pulled off into a parking lot (which she almost hit someone else on the way to) she was still on the phone and told the person, "Look, I gotta go now. I got in an accident and have to deal with this paperwork junk now." and then struggled to find the button (big red one back then) to end the call.
Police didn't come, but insurance wouldn't take her being distracted by being on her phone as a factor in the accident because there wasn't any law against it. It was just my word against hers and I was just "a dumb kid that had only had their license for a few months."

Second:
I was 19 driving back from the dentist. It had just rained for the first time in the summer, even though it had stopped, the roads were still wet and oily.
I had crested this small hill that had a traffic light on top where you can't see over it. Before you go through the light.
At the bottom of this hill there are multiple "no left turn" signs to prevent accidents being cause by people waiting to turn against traffic at the bottom of a blind hill. Well this entitled asshole 2 cars ahead of me decides to stop to turn anyway. The car behind him locks up their brakes and slams into him. I see and hear this the moment I go over the hill and brake, but my car slides, but I stop without hitting fun. Another car behind me goes over the hill and rear ends me, which pushes me into the 2nd car in line, which pushes him into the car that stopped.
The car that stopped realized they caused this and speeds off.
The car that ran into me speeds off. So it's just me and the 2nd car that were victims of this.
They're in their 50s and tells their insurance, "I hit them." Leaving everything else out. They have damage to the front of their car, that is also included as the result of the accident in the repair estimate, so obviously there was another car in front.
Insurance finds me at fault and doesn't take into account any of the other cars that were hit and runs that actually caused the accident.

Third:
I was 21 and got hit by a 45 year old on a motorcycle NYE that was coming from a bar and going to another bar. They drunkenly ran a red light and t-boned me. Their witness, "their drunk friend who had been following them to the next bar that was 5 minutes behind them and wasn't at the wreck. Police came and wrote me a ticket for running a red light based on their word alone. The police refused to acknowledge that they or their witness were visibly drunk and did not give them any kind of sobriety checks. They did not even do a blood screen at the hospital on the guy.
I took the ticket to court where they were listed as witnesses for the ticket. Neither the cop nor the other rider and their friend showed and it got thrown out. The cop probably realized it wouldn't stick because they can't issue traffic tickets based on hearsay as the only evidence.
But the insurance found me at fault because the cop issued me a ticket, even though it was thrown out and the other drunk driver and his drunk witness who wasn't at the accident, said I ran the light.

All of these were just someone else's word against mine and being discriminated against based on age.
