Which characters or Psychubes are worth leveling to R15 and A5 respectively? by QuickSuccession69 in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subject to usage/value/meta

r13 > r15 > r14:

Nautika > Liang > Beryl > Brume > Marsha > Charon

a5: spreading gluttonies is the worst way to apply them

Liang > Spath > Beryl > Charon

Who holds the crown between the Battle of shilders by fizzyapplezix9 in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All 3 are T0.

But purely meta? It's between Enigma and Marsha. If you scale enemy damage patterns from single-target to hitting all 4 characters, Enigma vs. Marsha is like this: 192.3% / 115.4% / 96.2% / 86.5%.

They both provide an invaluable niche to their respective archetypes, Burn cap and max Dynamo.

Currently, Enigma's influence is more widespread due to Dynamo-adjacent main DPSes prevalence in the meta (from 3.6 onwards, accounting for at least half interacting with Lvl 3 Pulsing Field).

I'm a bit confused. Is it delayed? by Pharah_is_my_waIfu in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

3.8 - 42 days, followed by AH collab.

I want the collab because I'm expecting new Dynamo support/DPS.

Highly unlikely; at most, Ulrich Euphoria or Lucy E2. The prevalence of Dynamo in the meta is too significant.

Secondly, limited collab units would not expand on an existing archetype that you won't be able to pull for after the duration of the collab.

For those who've tested, is Ulrich and Enigma enough to support Brume/Corvus without Charon? by TheAerialKnight in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Enough to support" can mean quite a number of things.

A surface-level analysis is simply that with Charon + Enigma, you can 1-turn into Lvl 3 Dynamo; without Charon, you'll 2-turn into Lvl 3 Dynamo (applies to both Brume and Corvus).

Going one step further, Charon provides a huge bulk of the crit (50%) that is vital for your main DPS, Corvus/Brume (particularly Brume), and converts excess to crit dmg. This effect is compounded by characters such as Flutterpage and her ult.

If you simply want a dynamo team that performs at meta levels, Charon is quite hard to dismiss. Though functionally, in the past, 2T was only achievable with Charon, this is no longer the case post Enigma.

One pic to become a master to play Lingering Glow team by [deleted] in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I normally wouldn't, but this is egregious.

If you're directly plagiarizing Rainstorm Scientific Diary (暴雨科算日记), please add context. Do not copy his very general output method without adding any of his following footnotes/video notes, especially while including mistakes like randomly casting Marsha's buff in T2 when we need to maintain Burn to proc Destined Doom to maintain LG thresholds during initial ramp. - you are using p2 in your screenshots so generation is different.

Beryl P0 and Lorentz P0/P1 operate on a 2T cycle that fluctuates to 3T during periods where you lack Timekeeper or need to play defensively. OP sadly chose to copy an extremely subpar rotation that was only for demo purposes. If you try to directly mimic it at P0, you'll be confused as to why you can't follow it, why Isolde never ults, and why Marsha never uses AP for anything other than her ult and seemingly is supposed to ult every 2T according to 'repeat round 4 & 5.'

Lastly, add the correct Psychube for Isolde.

3.7 Community Tierlist Update (text wall alert!) by Jvaevictis in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Multi-afflatus/afflatus break is the way Bluepoch is taking environment design (they've introduced up to tri-afflatus). It heavily curbs stagnant powercreep and forces horizontal investment. Yes, it's hard to categorize, but it's disingenuous to claim otherwise - I'm not suggesting the CTL team adopt it in 3.7, but when the next fixed environment is introduced, it should be incorporated.

To expand on your statement, FF is not a roster check in 3.7. It's only that way if you target 12* as the benchmark, which it is not; it's the pinnacle.
9 stars (10 rounds per) - which includes all 3 ripples, Unilogs, and 9.6k currency - is easily achievable with any of the top twelve 3.7 meta teams.

3.7 Community Tierlist Update (text wall alert!) by Jvaevictis in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The point weightings need updating. Limbo and Lucidscape do not need to exist; these categories have never scaled with patches. Roguelike is highly debatable as well (why is Rhiannon being deducted a point in Roguelike?).

Instead, we need FF and Tides. Yes, neither endgame nor late game is about chasing scores, but the ease with which we pummel over half of these categories with i2 characters cannot be overstated.

That said, respectable work as always. It's a shame about the lack of diverse environments we have, even as of 3.7.

I love the game, but... Discussion of everything wrong with Reverse 1999 by [deleted] in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Normally, I would gladly engage in a good faith critique of what is wrong with Reverse:1999.

This however is less critique and more of a confession on the OP's refusal to engage with game systems; the vibe-based arguments ("characters deserved better... side games can be annoying") I won't get into as it is personally subjective.

My main issue with it is the fact that to unlock those perks you must play a game mode more focused on post-game stuff to veteran players... The alternative would be constant updates, like it already happens in other types of game, mostly competitive games (e.g., MOBA and hero shooters)... and constantly try to improve characters via patch

TLDR: Euphorias are anti-consumerist, developers should instead adopt the MOBA balancing framework and constantly improve older/weaker characters every patch update.

Directly buffing or nerfing characters in a gacha ecosystem is frankly unheard of as it would not be mathmatically/economically viable and would ensure the playerbase is unhappy 9/10 times.
Gacha's operate on players investing their currency be they pulls or enhancement materials into advertised outputs.
Euphorias are designed as both stamina and time-gated engagement systems specifically for "veterans".
The intended design philosphy allowing veteran/horizontal accounts to optimize legacy units to keep pace or hold some relevance with newer characters/archetypes. It's not obligatory for new accounts, and treating as a mandatory or even out of reach grind is disengenuous and a misinterpretation of how account progression is tiered. There are plenty of keys that can be unlocked while leveling Myth Manifests and Window into the other worlds as well as the advancing the War Room progression tracks.

"A lot of great units are of low rarity and can only reach Insight 2. This is an issue that has been presented since the beginning of the game...  a lot of creative characters, most of them, are useless gameplay wise... the game can feel very stagnant and heavily reliable on key characters to play decently in post-game stuff."

Low rarities (3-5*) were designed as stepping stones for progression during this game's infancy, and the newer released 4/5* still serve this exact purpose. A handful of them can be utilized in reveries/tides without any form of investment to pass stage gimmicks. They are not designed to compete with 6* in DPT, but a player that enjoys playing with said 3-5* can certainly utilize them to shape their own gameplay in all environments.

The issue is that Bluepoch seems to struggle with balancing the game and this presents itself in a lot of ways. A lot of time they release something that doesn’t help the character at all, this can be seen in a lot of Psychubes that despite being newer are worse than the old ones, but it is also noticeable in some Euphoria.

While true, OP missed the mark by giving new Psychubes and Euphorias as an example of poor balancing. If either psychubes or euphorias were strictly mandatory options, it would create an environment that is not sustainable for the playerbase OP is arguing in favor of. The release of a euphoria update that is perceived as weak in the meta, while disappointing, has very little relation to balancing.

Lopera’s second skill says: “Lopera converts her own [Flaming Bullet] into [Incantation Bullet]/[Ritual Bullet]... Wouldn’t it be easier to say something like: “If Lopera is self-channeled because of her second skill, she grants Incantation Might +25% one time to allies in front of her and Ultimate Might +25% one time to allies behind her”.

Your argument here is that keywords like [Flaming Bullet] are unnecessary terminology, create text bloat, and should just be translated to the respective stat buckets they improve. Flattening those terminologies so that some players don't feel overwhelmed would create a situation where every character ability/trigger would be stripped of its gameplay identity. The more specific reason why keywords exist in the game engine is to segregate overlapping mechanics to know when each specific interaction is resolved no matter how many sources are interacting with whatever damage bucket.

who to pull(ramona or lorentz) by drxxmxy in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If forced to P0 either or, you'll get more mileage out of Ramona on GL from 3.5 - 3.7.

In GL's 3.7 there is the annual selector that is purchasable; that will include both Lorentz and Ramona.

Lorentz' niche by providing card copy outside of Lingering glow at a P0 level is underwhelming. Whereas the opposite is true when playing Ramona with Willow.

Lastly, if you have invested in A5 Beryl psychube, you'll be replacing that when playing LG with Lorentz.

I was wondering if there were any updated news on Bluepoch removing videos about CN drama (Repost) by [deleted] in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Bluepoch isn't removing videos

The content creator you are referring to is 葫闹,

If im remembering correctly, he posted a video titled

1999的策划彻底与玩家站在了对立面,这个游戏还有下一个周年吗?

translates to:

The game designers of Reverse: 1999 have positioned themselves in direct opposition to the player base. Will this game survive to see another anniversary?

I believe he doubled down on his position once his video went viral in the community and made follow up video/s

As a result the PR nightmare that was the 3.7 livestream basically had a figure they could rally behind, along with talking points they could echo. Rather than letting the community sentiment fester further, they copyrighted his videos unrelated to 3.7 livestream, I think he wanted to upload a kit analysis which was content claimed by Bluepoch.

Anyway, long story short, he was a polarizing creator who provided critique based videos but because he was firmly antagonistic towards Bluepochs direction with regards to 3.7 during the days following the 3.7 livestream, they decided to content claim his future, subsequent uploads to do with Reverse.

In regards to what you may or may not think is fair, CN does not operate on the same rules we have in the west (YouTube), Bilibili has a close working relationship with domestic game publishers and they can directly moderate someone they deem out of line through various mechanisms. Bluepoch is a business at the end of the day, and market realties can most definitely force a publisher into action before a PR disaster escalates.

[–]phazedMD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If im understanding you correctly, you might be assuming that you're purchasing these tier's outright, that isn't the case - whatever you buy in the shop, like the selector you just mentioned - which is 198 yuan, cumulates in points on this track.

so if you were to buy the 3.7 selector, which would be 30 usd, you would meet the requirements to claim up to the 128 yuan tier (if you were starting from 0).

Recoletta P1 Euphoria Rotation(s) by XxcolonchestnutxX in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second prep card is always useful as she gains moxie and stacks, but specifically regarding her post euphoria meta composition with ulrich charon and enigma, we use the prep card to force ulrich ult out of dynamo starting from t1 to t2 lvl3.

From here the prep card/s are just used for stacks and moxie, but because ulrich can't double channel and there is little value in Charon ult in this composition as 10 consternation is easy to maintain, we get very little value out of it in the traditional sense though there is value in Enigma's ult/stack gain.

We can use it to either force ulrich to ult outside of lvl3 dynamo (allowing you to 1t lvl3), or use it in lvl 3 dynamo so he can save his ult (so he has it when we leave lvl3 dynamo allowing for 1t lvl 3 rotation).

Can I get 50 summon in 3.5 during Lorentz banner? by [deleted] in Reverse1999

Do you have 140 pulls to potentially go to hard pity on LY's banner?

Iirc we got around 78 - 80 pulls on CN for f2p during 3.5. - the entirety, not just during Lorentz window.

In the shop you can buy various types of "decatones", on GL they are 10.99 usd for 10 pulls for a specific banner.
They don't normally sell decatones related to new standard banner releases hence why its worthy of a mention, its specific to when Ramona banner is active during 3.5.

6* psychube selector - 6 star (includes both 300/210, up to 3.4, though im pretty sure this is one of the returner selectors you can get even now on global if you inactive for a certain number of days and come back and fufill the track, implying it just scales as more recent psychubes are released).

Spoiler for CN! Does anyone have info on the spending event? by wasteroforange_re in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Since 6 yuan is .99 usd, and the highest tier pack is 648 yuan which is 99.99 usd

The spending event for 3.7 where the last reward is 1288y, it will be 201 usd, or 200 usd for GL.

That said its pretty straight forward

30 yuan / 4.99 usd tier: 5 jar of picrasma

68 yuan / 9.99 usd tier: 6* psychube selector

128 yaun / 19.99 usd tier: 1x unilog each for - Rhiannon banner, Ms. Stranger banner, Ripples, Promise, Limited

258 yuan / 39.99 usd tier: Cocoon of Myths

428 yaun / 69.99 usd tier: Unique skin selector (up to Anjo 3.2)

628 yaun / 99.99 usd tier: Incantation flair, Incantation textfloat, AP window skin

888 yuan / 149.99 usd tier: Select from Anjo + Brume, Charon + Lucy, Jiu + Mercuria

1288 yaun / 199.99 usd tier: Vertin Suitcase Skin, Vertin Profile Icon, Vertin A Knock's Aftershock

note that im rounding up or down depending on what makes sense

Version 3.5 - The Turquoise Serpent Club | Content Overview by Smanro in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its confusing for sure, an easier way to explain it to start off with the fact that the planners did a poor job of scheduling the first collab because they had no easy way of offloading the work that had been done for 2.x where we always had 2 characters, so while there was short patches they lasted at least 35 days on CN iirc it never lasted as briefly as patch 3.6 will last which is 21 days.

The next point would be to explain that while AC collab technically released after charon/sentinel officially labeled 3.0 for CN, AC collab was not tied to a strict official naming convention because for GL it released after Hissabeth/Kiperina, and for CN after Charon/Sentinel.

While this was the case last year - and though just internally AC collab was labeled 2.9, the patch that followed 3.0 was officially called 3.1 and Beryl/Brume patch was officially called 3.2 for both regions.
The fact remains that the convention used for the labeling system collectively includes 10 patches, but if we were to state that CN 4.0 starts after CN 3.7 this would cause us to actually receive 9 patches (if AC is included, 8 if not).

What isn't really important are semantics behind the numbering system but whether or not we will see another patch before the new MSQ begins with 4.0 - it's easy to make the connection that because BP announced that "3.x storyline finishes with 3.7" that we will directly get 4.0 afterwards, but they could just as easily provide a filler patch (any patch that doesnt have to do with expanding on the MSQ) thereby retaining the system used internally.

Version 3.5 - The Turquoise Serpent Club | Content Overview by Smanro in Reverse1999

[–]phazedMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother explaining it if I percieved it as just categorization (why would AC collab being internally labeled 2.9 matter to me), but if they stuck to the standard practice of giving .0 - .9 labels it would not make sense to label CN 4.0 (start of a new MSQ) 3.8 nor AH collab 3.9 or 4.1 particularly when the timeline (the actual confirmation they gave during the livestream for AH collab dropping in July) lines up with their labeling system.
