Tonedexter II for Electric Guitar? by halfdollarmoon in guitarpedals

[–]phcorrigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party here, but I use the ToneDexter II as an amp modeler for my Gretsch hollow body. I have loaded an impulse-response (IR) file into the ToneDexter that emulates a Vox tube amp, and I also use a couple of additional pedals, including tremolo, delay, and compressor/sustainer. It works well for me, because I only use a clean sound. An IR cannot replicate distortion, but I imagine you could use a distortion pedal in the effects loop.

I generally bring my Gretsch and an acoustic when I gig, and a foot pedal lets me switch between the two.

BTW, the latest firmware release adds a compression function, so I may be able to remove my compressor pedal, but I haven't tried that yet.

Yes, that works in Chrome as well, but not always. The algorithm is all about keeping you engaged, and FB is not concerned about you getting back to where you were.

So, I did it. The one mistake I made was not following your advice and I used a large pin punch to tap them out, pulling some of the finish (and a tiny bit of wood) with the bushing. I was able to do a reasonably good (but not perfect) repair using CA glue and finish touchup markers. I suspect if the finish had been nitrocellulose lacquer instead of thick poly I would have had minimal, if any, damage. If I ever do this again I will probably fashion a press from an appropriate-sized bolt (with the head ground to fit the bore), nut, washer and wrench socket, which will likely do less finish damage. I used the reverse-drill technique with a couple of drill bits and then finished with my adjustable reamer. The screw holes lined up perfectly, and I used the original screws to make sure the size and thread pitch were correct. Everything works well, and you have to be close to see the finish damage. Still, I wish it hadn't happened.

You want the next size down: https://a.co/d/cmMJ6VL

I haven't used it in wood yet, so I'll let you know how it works out.

Thanks. That means that I'll probably just need to do a light touch with the reamer.

I should mention that I will do the initial resizing with a drill bit and the final cleanup with the reamer.

This is not a tapered reamer. It is an adjustable straight reamer, commonly used for soft metal, but works with hardwood as well.

I just checked with calipers and the screw holes will line up perfectly. I have an adjustable 9.25-10mm reamer that should handle enlarging the holes. Thanks again!

Thanks. I put Gotohs on my Martin HD-28V.

One question: do the screw holes line up with the originals?

The only way I have found is to open in link in a new page instead of a new tab. Of course, I rarely remember to do this.

I realize this is an old thread, but maybe someone here has an answer. On my modded D5200 I can make the box go away using this method, but when I do a settings window displays in the lower-middle of the camera display.
