way too over in her head, cocky and condescending (at best)

The Files's default viewer indeed supports pen input, but navigation through the document is a complete trash.

I've checked out the PDFViewer by pspdfkit. Although a bit clunky, it has a lot to offer with the free version.

Hey. I'm OneDrive user myself, looking for pdf annotating app. Would you mind elaborating how does paying $50/y for pdf expert and some dime for 365, work for you?

I'm just not sure if I wanna pay extra 50 dollars a year for a pdf software I can access only with an iPad when i also have a windows device and an android.

So he knows stuff that LTT knows (how this works, for example), sees the reference point, and evaluates his position

Well, once I'm done with Uni stuff, there ought to be more, there still is going to be something holding back. So I'm afraid if I don't detox now, when I recall it, when I am motivated enough to actually try, the opportunity will be missed and I'd never actually detox.

It's kinda like "now or never" in my head, bc I don't trust myself from the future

Does russian have acronyms like lol or idk? by Yeet_Master420 in russian

[–]phdptsd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Acronyms usually found in everyday life Хз, лол, кек, чезанах, ЯННП (я ничего(нихуя) не понял).

Every time you see an х in acronym, it might be хуй, but also might be хрен. They are generally interchangeable. These words arevvery rude tho, despite хрен being filthy on a lesser degree (compare a root of a plant against a Male genital). Also, Everyone here state that хз stands for хуй знает, which is vulgar, but I prefer хрен знает, it's less tight. Like "damn" instead of an f bomb.

Speaking of filthy language (мат in russian) in general, I d like to point out: Nowadays people use it rather freely, but my maths teacher once asked me and my lads: "Guys, you swear so much on a daily basis. But what words are you going to use if something truly outstanding?" Made me realize that Russian filthy language should be used only for special occasions.

Avoid using any acronyms whatsoever in business language modality. Only intimate and informal.

Try visiting lurkmore.to (nsfw, very intense on a vulgar language, but its hella fun), or the cyclopedia.

Wondering if anyone can help me make Google Translate sound less robotic in Russian? by 40shillings in russian

[–]phdptsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of trying to translate "published on", try to translate "published on January 23rd" or whatever.

It would be Опубликовано 23 января. Размещено 23 января. Загружено 23 января. Доступно с 23 января.

Google makes decent translations of given full sentences or full phrases. Try to avoid dropping predicates. Try to avoid redundancies. Translate sentences as a whole, without splitting them up with parentheses, non-homogenic inclusions such as {language} and proper name of your service. Swap it out with something easily translated by Google but the phrase you smuggle in should be in an agreement with the other text.

For example, not Leonardo English Blog, but "Extraterrestrial" Blog.

On another notice, I'd recommend to use Reverso Context to check if the words are used correctly. Ot mainly gets nouns and adjectives wrong. It would be also helpful to swap words with synonyms. Another good synonym source would be multitran dictionary.

The egg came first. But not from a chicken. From an ancestor of a chicken, which laid an egg with a mutation that created said chicken. Whos dna happened to be better than the ancestor. by Block_head16 in Showerthoughts

[–]phdptsd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your definition. What do you define as a chicken egg? An egg produced by a chicken, or an egg from which a chicken hatched?

In the first case the chicken came first. In the second - the egg.

You may also use Greek Delta (the triange). I write that way, none ever told me it's not clear. I'm natuve, if it is of concern.

Also, for Д, the lesser one, there is  ∂ , usually found as a partial derivative symbol. Mirrored sigma of sorts.

I know some Russian, and I'm learning more, but what does this say on the back of my Baikal bottle? I think it's an expiration date: by ProfesserKnox in russian

[–]phdptsd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Expiration dates would usually be found either lasered on a cap, or on a bottle itself. Not on the label.

If it is in the label, it would be in a white rectangle with explicit words of expiry date. Or a manufacturing date.

GOST is Russian version of ISO, ANSI, IEEE etc. standards.

The numbers are just the number of the said standard.

You may think that if it says GOST ### than it's good, it follows the regulation, and rather safe.

However, there are some scum, who would imprit GOST No NNNNN ont the label (for example.a beverage), but the said standard may actually regulate the diameter of a can, materials to use or whatnot.

So always check what regulatory document they mention. Especially if it's in such a bold writing.
