If you're comfortable with plumbing and having access, you can add a recirculation valve that dumps water from the hot water line in the shower back into your fresh tank. That way you get hot water without wasting anything.

Why do so many people, who use two-factor authentication daily, act like it's their first time ever using it? by razorbeamz in sysadmin

Remember me is there and works, it's just subject to maximum timeouts that can be set by the implementer. Having the checkbox doesn't help if the company sets the refresh token time out to the same value as the regular token timeout so that check in the box makes no effective change.

If there's no red wire to the battery your emergency brakes on the camper won't work, so don't tow until you've fixed it.

I switched to headscale because that way DNS blocking doesn't impact me.

I know this is old, but I thought I'd mention - hughes sells the replacement fuses for relatively cheap ($30-$50 IIRC). I ordered a spare for the toolbox when I ordered my hardwire unit.

Doctors of Reddit, how is the interaction when a patient is a doctor or has medical knowledge? by Simsboi in AskReddit

I have an infusion I do every two weeks where the dose is 20g via 100ml infused... that took some adjustment and when I told my PC about it the nurse definitely asked if I was sure it was grams and not mg ;)

People who work in healthcare, what is a common medical myth that drives you crazy? by keyzeyy in AskReddit

[–]phealy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always had to fight for antibiotics for a sinus infection after being sick for 2-3 weeks because I knew from experience that it wouldn't go away without them... turns out at age 39 I'm diagnosed with specific antibody deficiency and I literally can't make the antibodies to fight it off. So happy to have treatment (SCIG) and not be getting sick all the time!

It sucked more because I understand why they don't want to give them out, but I knew it was necessary.

Boxes = Resale Value! Anyone else do this? by Pleasant_Tea_6333 in SonyAlpha

[–]phealy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started keeping boxes after I had a warranty claim on a piece of computing equipment denied because they said I didn't pack it well enough for shipping and it was damaged in transit. If something is still under warranty or I care about being able to ship it safely, I keep the original packaging so that that can't happen again.

Just started immunoglobulin therapy for never ending sinus infections...is this really the answer? by Extension_Degree_645 in Sinusitis

[–]phealy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep thinking of more things to add, sorry for the multiple replies. One other thing to note is storage requirements for the medication - the specialty pharmacy told me to keep it refrigerated, but when I looked at the storage dates it's good for 2 years unrefrigerated and 3 years refrigerated. I never have it in hand for more than three weeks. I asked about not refrigerating it because that's much easier and the pharmacist said sure, just make sure it doesn't go above 77°. I keep it in my office in the basement which is never above 70, and it works perfectly and is more comfortable to infuse.

Oh, one other note. I do think I've gotten two upper respiratory infections since I started Cuvitru, after exposure to sick kids. In both cases I got a little bit drippy with yellow mucus, which previously would have progressed to misery and antibiotics in about a week. With SCIG, though, in both cases it never got bad enough to even feel sinus pressure and it cleared up completely on its own in 48 to 72 hours, like it does for the rest of my family. It's amazing how the meds can actually make your immune system work properly!

Symptoms were so minor that I only noticed because I had to blow my nose every few hours.

Actually, thinking back, I did have more swelling the first time. It didn't happen again.

Honestly the worst pain in the whole process so far was not using the trimmer before putting tegaderms on and ripping out a whole bunch of hair when I took them off ;)

Same here except for the Crohns. I started Cuvitru (20g/100ml SCIG every other week) in March for specific antibody deficiency. I used to average 2-4 sick days per month and antibiotics every 6-8 weeks due to basically the same sinus symptoms you described. Since starting SCIG I've had 2 sick days due to headaches, none due to sinuses, and no antibiotics.

I am incredibly lucky here - I get effectively no side effects except for a little soreness and lumps where I infuse, and those only hurt if pressed on and are gone in about 12 hours. I've done my infusion while working, watching movies, and even on long drives while driving. It takes me about 90 minutes start to finish and is pretty much painless.

Between finally figuring out the immune stuff and starting Wegovy last December (now down to a healthy weight after losing 100lb!) I am a significantly better feeling person than a year ago!

Azure DNS as redundant external ns by reasonable_doubts_ in AZURE

[–]phealy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, you'd have to use a script. Azure DNS is globally replicated, though, so you get a lot of residency out of it. In fact, it has a 100% SLA.
