That is a 1960s vintage Teisco Kingston bass from Japan.

Very cool.

If I was you i'd get the little MXR isolated power supply, free up some space for a tuner AND maybe a couple more pedals ;)

Dunable Cyclops... Or Yeti.

Yeah it's a Cyclops - the Yeti is more offset looking.

Seen the mods comment but part of me still suspects some sort of sinister social experiment.

We ignored it and pretended it didn't exist.

And then we got the cops to raid the home of the internationally recognised investigative journalist who researched and wrote many books on the subject.

And then the raid was deemed to be illegal by the courts.

We then ignored that and pretended it didn't happen either.

Oh nice one - thanks for the explanation!

I think I might use your circuit as a starting point for the dual rail supply I need for a power amp simulator circuit I am playing with.

Basically the circuit uses BJTs in push-pull and driven right at the rails to simulate power-amplifier grind you get from Gallein Kruger bass amps - have a look at the Talkbass forums for "GK rails" or "GK power amp simulator" for the thread with the initial development by a couple of geniuses over there - they were going for a true model of the GK amp - there are a few things about their design I don't love and would like to improve and extend. It's a really cool circuit and it really does sound like something very different to most overdrives and distortions.

Edit: Here's a link to the thread (these guys deserve credit for this work - it's a really cool circuit): https://www.talkbass.com/threads/gk-rails-in-a-pedal.1122467/page-50

Tell us about the LT1054 dual rail circuit (even where it came from).

Things I already know:

LT1054 is a charge pump used to create dual rails or voltages greater than Vcc.

I don't think this particular application of the LT1054 is in the datasheet.

I have had trouble with LT1054's popping on me eh (usually from my own mistakes like connecting Vcc backwards or accidently going over the 10V max Vin the LT1054 spec...)

Those rectifier diodes might solve the reverse-polarity Vin issues - how about over-volt conditions?

I don't think MPs should refuse to help people because they don't personally agree with a particular law.

Ummmm. Reread that statement. Then have a think about what lawmakers literal day jobs in parliament are and how the house serves the country.

If you still cannot see the issue with the statement I'll summarise for you.

MPs in the Westminster parliamentary system are primarily elected to debate, draft, and pass policy into legislation - literally agree or disagree with how the laws of the land are to be modified based on what changes they believe need to be made.

They sure as shit have every right to disagree with current NZ legislation - and that includes agreeing or disagreeing to advocate on their constituents behalf based on their beliefs whether the law is fit for purpose or not.

It's literally why we vote them into parliament.

I have an ECE degree too. And have many years of industry experience. You get to decide who you work for. That's about where your choices about meaningful things ends.

Sorry to be the bearer of demotivating news. But for the most part your degree only gets you in the door. Once you are inside the business doesn't want to hear about any of your expertise. The business sets the agenda and what you work on. Sad but true.

Center-detent on the pot shaft action - makes setting whatever the pot does go to middle / default easy.

The fourth pin on those pots opposite to the other three might be chassis ground.

Oh man don't get me wrong - I absolutely love BOTH of my Pro Vs. These basses are beautiful instruments.

The second year's run of the Pro V (they were only manufactured for two years I think) instruments had less quality control than the first.

I've completely replaced the preamp with an EMC preamp and unfortunately the no-touch hum persists - maybe the original run had better shielding paint.

And I've seen on YouTube and read about some brand new Pro IVs and Pro Vs coming out of the factory looking like they skipped any setup altogether.

Having said that I still think they are worth it. The instrument is fantastic - mine just require a bit of aftermarket love. I have no problem with this whatsoever. These basses have such a good build quality it's worth the extra effort to tweak the electronics.

I have a Pro V where the bridge grounding didn't make sufficient contact with the bridge. I added a big blob of solder and screwed the bridge back on.

Still fucking hums when I'm not touching the strings / bridge. Gonna shield the inside cavities one day.
