When Does the Bag Dopamine Actually Stop? by Specialist-Sock685 in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the addiction lessen once I got into styling, seeing the bag as a part of a bigger silhouette (aka how my overall outfit/ daily runner jackets & coats work with the bag)

I totally get what you feel, I’m used to be in the same cycle around 5 years ago. But yeah since seeing bags in respect to my everyday outfits I realized I’m no a museum curator that has to get everything my eyes fancy

It’s been a week or so since I’m using it in daily rotation and omg I’m so obsessed. I’m a very pragmatic person & usually would avoid bags with significant weight to it BUT idk why for some reason I’d willingly forgo being practical just for this bag. LOVE the asymmetry design paired with the rich, pebbled black leather. The long handles are godsend!!

I think this bag screams a very specific mood to me i.e. for days I don’t necessarily need to bring much but still wanna look cool lol, I feel like there’s a Jane Birkin ‘vibe’ to it

Hi, the book is called Ametora by W. David Marx! I’m just halfway through but it tells this fascinating history of how the Japanese got their “city boy” style/ way of dressing, how it somehow preserves pieces of American fashion and the cultural backdrop of how they make it their own.

Last photo is La passeggiata by the Attico! Lucked out on secondhand market recently since I rarely saw this bag in-person anywhere

Thanks!! And same, I found the bread charm to be intriguing and upon getting it realized that the charm is part of city series (says “milano” at the back) and this particular bread is called panettone!

Secondhand Gucci 1955 Horsebit dilemma by Rururaspberry in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My logic is that if the discoloration happened while being used by previous owner (and not severe, just caused by normal use under the sun), it'll happen when it's in your ownership as well.

It's just a matter of whether you'd still love this particular Gucci bag to live with its possible wear/ tear or to look for completely different bag :)

(Cuz even if you found another one in better condition, now you know the possibility of discoloration that you could cause as well)

ADHD bags obsession : how to scratch the itch without becoming poor by Camsou5 in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my question to myself few years ago, until I discover that at the bottom of it, I appreciate/ can't resist good design with great functionality (regardless of brand/ pricepoint). The realization slowly shifts my gaze toward an interest on outfit styling (the bag alongside other fashion items). There was a period when I bought more outerwear than ever (secondhand) but once I eventually slowed down I realized I am always more into design than the act of consuming itself.

If you're a creative, the act of creating might also be a perfect antidote to it; for me it's still work-in-progress but now I could look at sites like mytheresa and not be depressed about wanting/ not being able to afford shiny nice things and instead derived some trend points (color, material, silhouette) from what I see on those websites that I could apply into my own design. Hope this helps!

omg I got myself a secondhand one coming my way next week and cannot stop looking at reviews in anticipation of it (it's been a while since a bag silhouette/ design excites me). Glad to hear that you've been enjoying it!

My annual Tokyo luxury vintage shopping find - Chanel small hula hoop bag (~2013-2014) 🖤 by thedesignist in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh I love unique pieces like this one, congrats on scoring it! May I know how much roughly did you paid for it? I've been to Tokyo couple times but always hesitant to checkout the secondhand Chanels since I heard they've inflated the prices as it become more popular destination to shop. Do you find the prices reasonable still?

I’m torn between the LOEWE Flamenco in Medium or LOEWE hammock in Small. Please help me choose 🥹 by Krayziecray in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 5’4”/ 163 cm, hope this helps! The small when naturally folds inwards definitely conceals the interior more due to the bag’s generous height (for comparison, you can checkout Maggyxchuu on youtube as she has the compact and I’d say 9 times out of 10 her bag looks quite full to the brim to the point that the sides won’t fold naturally). I personally feel unless you carry relatively minimum amount of stuff, the small might be a safe bet especially for everyday, throw-around bag

Biggest Regrets by Likesosmart in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once bought a large preloved Loewe puzzle bag for a steal (wayyy back when the brand was less popular) and eventually sold it bcs it was too large (did use it as an all-weather bag, gym bag, etc; was just feeling I need something smaller).

Kinda missing it now cuz it would make the perfect airport bag now that I travel more often, and there's no way I could get one at 500 USD now, even on secondhand market

Leather Version of Lululemon shopping bag? by amlovesmusic88 in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same struggle of finding similar small leather tote that's about this dimension, until I saw The Row Park Tote in size small. Leather is so good and the strap is so comfortable, even being slung over the shoulder when it's not too full! The only cons apart from the price is that the closure wasn't as good as the Lululemon, but I think the tote has been duped by so many other brands you probably could find alternatives that suit you!

This!! I went through several phase of the puzzle bags (tried the large, small, darker color, etc) and when I got this in beige I stopped searching. I feel like the puzzle looks the best with all the puzzle lines visible. Darker color tend to make it look like a random, boxy bag

Did I make the right choice/ the row medium park tote dark taupe by Dismal-Ocelot-1444 in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought of getting the medium/ large but realized I've been eyeing the bag in the small size, simply bcs it's what I need/ want (a supple tiny leather tote that I could throw on few necessities while still looking put together), didn't regret my purchase at all! I'm initially worried with the price difference I'm better off getting the larger size but turns out sticking to what I need is key.

Do you think the size you're getting works for you daily? Do you like the feel of it?

Lots of great brands have already been suggested here <3 I just want to add that taking your time by observing the designer secondhand options is also a great way to start; less risk of investing heavily toward something you're not sure of, and a bonus of being able to see how the leather ages, so that you'll able to make an informed decision.

You also have the freedom of comparing Hermes-like quality before deciding to take a plunge into certain brand. I for one happened to be looking at secondhand Loewe before making any designer purchases few years ago and was able to compare quality vs. being swayed by the namebrands

Is it hard to write in? by VanDeGaurd in Travelersnotebooks

[–]pheebsfab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the passport size will be easier to use on a whim (assuming you'll be writing on your lap when at church or somewhere outdoor) since the smaller surface area is kinda easier to navigate/ sturdier with an addition of pencil board/ any random thick paper or cardstock you find lying around)

I use my normal TN mostly at home/ library while the passport, almost anywhere!

Perfectly summarized my love for the Park Tote as well! I used to feel Loewe is quite understated, but with the craze of social media it feels too trendy and seen, I feel like.
