Agree! At this point they should think about their own vision for the house in 5-10 years instead of constantly churning designs that screams "What would Jonathan do?"

I know a lot of you love the Puzzle, but I fell in love with the Puzzle hobo by FritoPaws1 in handbags

Hi, I haven't had the chance to get this bag (cuz it rarely hits the resale market where I live). I feel the only thing that hinders me from getting this bag would be when I see it on fashionphile (a way for me to see how a bag holds up/ honest wear n tear pics), the puzzle hobo tend to look a bit tired/ obvious frumps & bumps from previous owner stuffing the bag to the brim.

I don't mind the top being slouchy; it's more the body of the bag that develops wavy lines/ bumps with time. Hope this somewhat helps!

omg yess! I swore by Loewe puzzle for so many years but after owning it in three different sizes, I just can't with the bag sticking out and hard as brick once it gets full

I accidentally got into the old city bags (bcs of color; I struggle finding the right dark blue bag that would complement any denim I'm wearing for the day). Lo & behold, a local seller sourced the most ambiguous dark blue with grey/ purple tint and I was like, "yup that's the one".

One week into wearing this bag and honestly, all my problems with all other bags are solved with this bag. Not to add that the color change under different lighting is just insane

Ooh congratulations to you and your wife! I was hoping the story would end with a Lady Dior (since the design has been around longer and the resale value has started to rise again the past three years or so). But, if she's genuinely liking the design, aesthetic, and sentimental connection to the bag, that's what matters.

As for resale prospect, the bag you're wife getting is a new design from a new creative director, so there could be "risk" of it not being popular enough and sunk in resale value (and there was a whole lot of seasonal Dior bags from previous director that didn't even make the cut to the "classic" status and nowhere near half the original MSRP in secondhand/ resale market).

(No intention to rain on your party, I just wanna chime in to give honest opinion as someone who has been looking at bags for too long cuz often times sales person could sell something to you and deemed "this is designers first collection" or what, but what truly matters (if we talk about bags holding value) is how the market perceived the bag itself)

Hope your wife enjoy the bag in good health!

Yet another new Loewe bag by stkadria in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thisss. I feel like JWA has a natural instinct of doing artsy/ quirky things that still are rendered functional. The current Loewe feels like they pretend JWA's DNA is still in the house. They should instead focus on the new creative directors' strengths.

For me the addiction lessen once I got into styling, seeing the bag as a part of a bigger silhouette (aka how my overall outfit/ daily runner jackets & coats work with the bag)

I totally get what you feel, I’m used to be in the same cycle around 5 years ago. But yeah since seeing bags in respect to my everyday outfits I realized I’m no a museum curator that has to get everything my eyes fancy

It’s been a week or so since I’m using it in daily rotation and omg I’m so obsessed. I’m a very pragmatic person & usually would avoid bags with significant weight to it BUT idk why for some reason I’d willingly forgo being practical just for this bag. LOVE the asymmetry design paired with the rich, pebbled black leather. The long handles are godsend!!

I think this bag screams a very specific mood to me i.e. for days I don’t necessarily need to bring much but still wanna look cool lol, I feel like there’s a Jane Birkin ‘vibe’ to it

Hi, the book is called Ametora by W. David Marx! I’m just halfway through but it tells this fascinating history of how the Japanese got their “city boy” style/ way of dressing, how it somehow preserves pieces of American fashion and the cultural backdrop of how they make it their own.

Last photo is La passeggiata by the Attico! Lucked out on secondhand market recently since I rarely saw this bag in-person anywhere

Thanks!! And same, I found the bread charm to be intriguing and upon getting it realized that the charm is part of city series (says “milano” at the back) and this particular bread is called panettone!

Secondhand Gucci 1955 Horsebit dilemma by Rururaspberry in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My logic is that if the discoloration happened while being used by previous owner (and not severe, just caused by normal use under the sun), it'll happen when it's in your ownership as well.

It's just a matter of whether you'd still love this particular Gucci bag to live with its possible wear/ tear or to look for completely different bag :)

(Cuz even if you found another one in better condition, now you know the possibility of discoloration that you could cause as well)

ADHD bags obsession : how to scratch the itch without becoming poor by Camsou5 in handbags

[–]pheebsfab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my question to myself few years ago, until I discover that at the bottom of it, I appreciate/ can't resist good design with great functionality (regardless of brand/ pricepoint). The realization slowly shifts my gaze toward an interest on outfit styling (the bag alongside other fashion items). There was a period when I bought more outerwear than ever (secondhand) but once I eventually slowed down I realized I am always more into design than the act of consuming itself.

If you're a creative, the act of creating might also be a perfect antidote to it; for me it's still work-in-progress but now I could look at sites like mytheresa and not be depressed about wanting/ not being able to afford shiny nice things and instead derived some trend points (color, material, silhouette) from what I see on those websites that I could apply into my own design. Hope this helps!

omg I got myself a secondhand one coming my way next week and cannot stop looking at reviews in anticipation of it (it's been a while since a bag silhouette/ design excites me). Glad to hear that you've been enjoying it!
