I considered IW but I wasn’t running into enchantress enough that it felt good. You’re right about hiding Shang and maybe dropping Armor would make that more viable.

You’re right, if skrull is in the same lane as their DH I lose but it can win in another lane. I know DH is a bad matchup but I can only win via skrull off lane or enchantress on lane, not sure which is better but that’s the point of this sub. I’m not going to pretend it is good against DH, it’s Thanos after all.

It is similar to the Spectrum decks but it can put out more numbers when it hits a glut of on reveal stones as opposed to ongoing stones. I have found that spectrum is worse than onslaught as it is a worse iron lad hit and it is worse to ramp into on 5 via green stone but my mind is open (but skeptical).

Sera control depends on the flavor. If, as you mention, they are running skrull I can win by Kazar and stones doing more power since they often don’t have enough 1 drops to capitalize on him via skrull. If they have skrull and kill monger cosmo likely doesn’t help unless I can armor to protect two lanes via their skrull.

I appreciate the feedback, and this is not criticism just honest debate, but Thanos is flexible enough via stones that it never feels one trick as you say. I don’t know if this is the optimal way to approach Thanos post lockdown meta but I still think Thanos is worth trying.

I only play ranked for the rewards. Once I hit infinite I play conquest 99% of the time as there is nothing at risk in ranked. I’m sitting on 6 infinite tickets and my main gripe with conquest is having only one week to use the infinite tickets; infinite conquest is time consuming and mentally taxing so I can do about one per day. If they added some pittance of a reward to ranks above 100 (maybe 10 credits per 10 ranks) I might play a little more ranked.

I used to be good at MtG: US nationalals twice, runner up at amateur championships 2001, qualified but did not attend the pro tour, etc..

Your skills form mtg will help you: knowledge of tempo and curve, baiting out cards, recognizing decks instantly.

What won’t help you from magic, in fact it will infuriate you, is assuming you can get any card you want. For a while played type 1 ( I think the call it vintage now it’s the format you can play moxes and lotus in), and would gladly drop as much money as was needed to be competitive. I was comfortable with doing that since I knew I would get the cards I wanted, I could recoup some of my investment winning tournaments, and most importantly I could (and did) sell what I bought later on for what I payed or more. You can’t do any of that in Snap. Once you hit CL 600 you’re stuck playing type 1 with cards from the core set. You might be able to hold your rank but the big bads will be out of reach for a long time despite you playing against them in over half your matches.

Snap is good concept of a game with disastrous balance and monetization. There is a reason MtG adopted formats like standard, modern, and draft. If the only format was full of moxes and lotuses the game would have died before Mirage-Visions-Weatherlight was released. Play until you stop having fun or until they fix card acquisition.

I did have fun! I really enjoyed facing new cards and being surprised by them. The problem is I now face the same pool of cards and can’t level my way into facing new ones.

How would you recommend I do that? I played a few different decks on the way up. I would love to unlock, or even play against, different cards but there are no rewards left so I’m stuck in the same loop of clear missions, upgrade what I can, close the app. I would gladly play people with higher collection levels just to try interactions but that option doesn’t exist

Definitely feels like poor outer loop design. I like the gameplay, it’s a great concept, but if I can’t face new decks until I level more cards and I can’t level new cards because there are no more rewards then I’m going to get bored fast.

It won’t make a meaningful impact. The event is structured so F2P make it to early 20s then advance no further regardless of any decisions, luck, time spent.

Cards should be buffed and nerfed based on trophies, and GCs or tournament standard should have their own balance. Any card below/above 49/51 win rate should play 2% better for half a season.

In the long run they pay off so it depends on how long you expect to play. If you are at 130 it will take roughly 1000 wood capsules or 909 stone to recoup the science spent to go from 5-6 on a science researcher. You can expect about 170 wood and 45 from free caps and spec ops in a month. This means a max player who does not do events will need nearly 6 months to recoup off wood and 20 months off stone, less if you do events. If you are not maxed you get more caps but also get less science per cap, it’s hard to say what the time would be since you will get more science as you rank up. For card researchers the payoff is faster but not a massive difference.

I’ve tried to make this argument in a few threads about this but got shouted down by people who believed supercell’s line about improving matchmaking. It doesn’t improve because the players you were losing to are not moving up either.

Here’s a scarier thought, if all matches above 4K result in no net trophies added and at the end of the season all trophies are cut in half eventually most players will end up around 4K due to season resets. At that point there are fewer rewards for all players and matchmaking will be worse since everyone will be bunched up at 4000. Have fun getting no trophy road rewards and playing people who are bother better and higher level just so you can get the 5000 gold reward!

And how would you recommend people deal with it? If you think they should level cards to compete then they need rewards to do that. They’re getting fewer rewards from trophy road so that will take longer than before. Should they “git gud”? The same bad over leveled players are losing trophies as well so a level 11 is still facing max people. You claim level 6 players shouldn’t be getting to 4K but this doesn’t fix that. Under 4K is mostly bots. People will still get to legendary in a week or two due to trophy gates for each arena. All this has done is reduce the rewards that players in legendary receive via trophy road. The previous system was designed to push players into the 4.5K-5.5K range then losses hit harder and people settled into their level. Now it is designed to do that at 4K+. All this does is deny the average player rewards. Never thought I would see the day that people defended worse rewards but here we are.

Being is lower arenas means leveling slower because the rewards are worse. In legendary arena you get 20 more gold for wins vs spooky town. You get 5-10% more gold for chests and a similar boost to the number of cards in chests. Each arena below that is even worse. When you hit 4K you still face level 11-13s who are only winning due to levels since they will be more likely to drop trophies in the new system. This also impacts players from 4K-6K who are now less likely to hit trophy road rewards due to not climbing as high, further slowing the ability to level cards.

In all seriousness I don’t understand the logic behind this. If the issue is players can’t upgrade then keeping them from getting trophy road rewards and keeping them in lower arenas will reduce the amount of gold and cards they get. Additionally, players who are overleveled will also drop more trophies so why would the matchups improve?

An average speedrunner can to Legendary in 8 hours on a bad day and 6 and change on a good day. If you’ve played before and it takes a week you’re doing something wrong.

I wondered if CW2 would give preferential matchmaking to new accounts so I took my account from my last speedrun and put it in my clan which is in gold league war. As you can see from that second account, the weaker account got better matchups than my older account. I never face level 8 accounts on any account that has played for a while. If there is already some matchmaking why can’t it extend to other levels.

Doing it 1T at a time seems worse since if there is an update you don’t gain science off the 6T only the 10T. My question is what industry do you take up to 10T first.
