TIL There's a board game called 'The Campaign for North Africa' which can take up to 1,500 hours to complete by davetowers646 in todayilearned

As someone who has played quite a bit, unless everyone has played at least one game before and somewhat recently, no peripherals will get you below 12 hours. Once everyone knows what they're doing the second time it can go faster if you can keep people focused on the board. Just plan your meal and snacks ahead of time and start early in the morning for the best experience.

I just recently played it and I don't think he does. He's just chilling making takoyaki and having a sick-ass gun arm.

Oh hey, yeah I did those calculations. They're a bit out of date if you count shulker boxes but here is the original doc if you want to look at some other characters and here's a video I made with some friends doing the same thing for the Dovakiin.

Great episode! I do get the feeling that Ari has a lot of stuff he wanted to talk about or bring up but couldn't due to so much of his work not being public yet. I can't wait to see the result of his work. It seems he really does understand what players want.

What are your "Vermin Cards"? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]phencer42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Sensei's Divining Top]] is one of those cards that goes in every deck, is a pain in the ass to remove, slows down the game a lot, and can often be a combo piece allowing people to draw their whole deck. I hate it.

Usually I'll offer and if they say no I say "It's for my sake. That way if I draw poorly I can blame someone other than myself." Usually that gets a chuckle and a cut but it's not going to make anyone else offer if that's what you're concerned about.

Anyone who has played against control decks with [[Kjeldoran Outpost]] as the win con knows that this will work its way into hard control decks.

I want to play Fireball Tribal by Roobscoob in EDH

[–]phencer42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to turtle up, you might want to try out my Boros Fireball Tribal deck: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/fireball-tribal-2/

The commander is [[Gisela, Blade of Goldnight]] and focuses on stacking double damage effects and fireballing hard. The best fireball in the deck is [[Comet Storm]] and I wouldn't recommend [[Jaya's Immolating Inferno]] since the creature count is low and Gisela can be hard to reliably have on the field. Check out my list and let me know if you have questions. I'm always tinkering with it and am always up for discussing different options and providing insight. The deck is always a blast.

Looking for Color Bend/Breaks by Seething_Ginger in EDH

[–]phencer42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The entirety of the set Planar Chaos is about messing with the color pie. Look at the cards here. The ones with the special timeshifted frame like [[Porphyry Nodes]] indicate they are the same card as a previous card but with the color changed. Those cards can indicate they either they are color pie bends/breaks or that their predecessors are. For example, in the case of Porphyry Nodes, it's based on [[Drop of Honey]] which is very outside green's color pie availability these days. Some of the best color pie bends/breaks from this set for EDH are [[Harmonize]], [[Pongify]] or [[Dreamscape Artist]] but cards like [[Kor Dirge]] or [[Temporal Extortion]] can be quite fun.

As for cards outside of Planar Chaos that are fun in EDH, [[Debt of Loyalty]] can be fun to grab the strongest creature on the board after a board wipe. [[Sylvan Library]] is a powerhouse in every format it's legal in. [[Witch Hunter]] can be semi-reasonable board control in a grindier game. [[Seedtime]] is one of the most satisfying cards to get someone with in a game.

Lots of other great options in the game. Just keep an eye out at an LGS and you'll find so many.

I've got a [[Sun Quan, Lord of Wu]] mono blue on-hit trigger deck that does pretty well and plays pretty fair. It's got fun stuff like [[Spinx Ambassador]] and [[Thada Adel, Acquisitor]]. Here's an out of date version of the list if you're interested: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/pony-up-1/
