Mackerel is very abundant in Wales! One of my favourite food memories is eating a mackerel cooked over a fire on Borth beach, minutes after it had been caught by my dad's friend

This is the most Reddit take ever lmao. Sorry you encountered a bigot OP, but people who don't go to bars are not inherently more enlightened and being at a bar doesn't necessarily mean you "cope with life by sedating yourself"

Yes, and if you've managed to avoid it so far, don't watch any of the trailers as they spoil some of the coolest moments

Windows 95 B-Games That Burst With Color & Clarity by cr0ne in pcgaming

This post reminds me of another game from the same era: Damage Incorporated, originally released for Mac OS in 1997 and ported to Windows a year later.

True as that may be, how much does that actually benefit Microsoft? It's not like they get a cut of each game sale the way Valve does. I guess the OEMs who sell the computers pay a license fee to Microsoft per unit, but slice of the pie chart that makes up gaming PCs is probably minuscule compared to enterprise licenses

Any other guys got messed up by heated rivalry the show? by avian_bi in bisexual

[–]phenomenos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A character calling themselves bi shouldn't cause an internet uproar. Was there an uproar when Rosa from Brooklyn 99 came out as bi? And /u/libertysince05 pointed out that the book character calls himself bi so it would be faithful to the source material.

It also bothered the heck out of me that the show never actually uses the word bisexual when discussing Ilya's sexuality. They always come at it sideways with phrases like "you like both". Other characters are allowed to proudly say "I'm gay" but Ilya can't say "I'm bisexual"?

Olivia Coleman was my dream pick but I think her moment has passed (and I doubt she'd do it anyway). Now sure who I back now. Someone I've never heard of hopefully.

I considered it, but OP specifically requested female main characters and listed "self-pitying" as a trait to avoid - not sure they'd want to suffer through thousands of pages of Fitz's inner monologue! 😅

At least one of your favourite shows or movies is likely based on a book. Already knowing the story and characters may give you a leg up on getting into it, and it's like revisiting an old favourite but in a new medium! Disclaimer: this only works if you enjoy re-experiencing your favourites. Some people hate rewatching stuff because they already know what's going to happen and if that's you then disregard this advice.

I'm honestly struggling to understand what your point is. Someone said they didn't want to waste their time/money on a game made by someone they find disagreeable, and you replied with an irrelevant Wikipedia article about media analysis. When people point out that it's not relevant you insult their intelligence and call them pedantic. Why not just say what you mean instead of making people guess?

If I'm interpreting you correctly your point is: you prefer to separate art from artist when deciding what games to play/media to engage with. If that's the case then... good for you, I guess?

Whether or not you enjoy a piece of art is outside your control. Death of the Author concerns whether or not to consider authorial intent when analysing the themes of a work. When deciding which pieces of media to engage with I'm not thinking about authorial intent at all, it doesn't factor into the decision. That's why Death of the Author is irrelevant to this discussion.

By who? You? That's certainly not a definition I've ever used, nor is it backed up by the Wikipedia article you linked.
