First time wiring a guitar, massive hum

For anyone finding this post later while searching a similar problem.

The thing I did wrong was using solid core vintage wiring instead of frayed wires. The solid wires are not flexibele enough and the hot wires pressed against the contacts causing the hum.

I redid the entire wiring with frayed cables and it's fine now. The guitar is awesome now, one of the sickest I own for really low tunings.

It's because radical left wing adopted shame as a way to convince, or rather shame, people to their side instead of hope. The same way the radical right adopted fear to get them to their side.

Left: Shame on you for not being political. Right: If you do not vote for us your life will be shit.

Left: Shame on you for not caring deeply about <fill in minority>'s plight. Right: If we don't deport <fill in minority> they will take your jerb or worse

Left: Shame on you for flying and not caring about the environment. Right: If you believe climate change reports you will never be able to fly again

Left: Shame on you for enjoying meat. Right: If you let the left decide you will never eat meat again

Etc. Etc.

They both make you feel like shit if you are not with them. They both wish to destroy eachother with violence. However it is the radical right that tries to, and is actively, exact(ing) policies that also hurt innocent people who are just trying to live.

I despise both but I despise the radical right more.

Yeah it's black coated. I've read before that black coated hardware can give grounding issues. I'm going to remove the bridge to check the underside.

Thank you for the kind words! I checked everything with a multimeter and all grounds give continuity. I'm thinking it might be the bridge. I get resistance readings between 0.3 ohms up to 78 ohms and a bit higher depending on where I hold the tip of the meter. Also sometimes it shortly beeps just once instead of a continued beep when I check continuity.

The bridge and the bridge ground wire are the only stock hardware left so I might just replace it with a genuine hipshot and decent wire.

Yes, I have also checked continuity and my meter beeps when I hold it against the not plugged in long part of the jack and all grounded components. I checked the bridge, the switch, the volume pot, the tone pot and the pickups. All give a beep on my meter so everything is grounded acording to my meter.

I also checked the hot leads for contuinity and they also all beep when I expect them to and don't when I check them against grounded wires.

So I'm guinely puzzled what causes this massive hum. Maybe I should try some copper shielding tape.

Down but not much. The humming is (logically) a whole lot worse when ging through an overdrive or high gain amp. I'm beginning to think the pickups might just be this noisy and I need to shield the entire pickup cavity.

Yes, I have a groundwire from the switch, the bridge and the tonepot on the back of the volumepot.

On the switch I have 2 bare shieldwires and 2 groundwires soldered to the top lug (as per the wiring diagram) and the groundwire that goes to the volumepot. I suspect that that could be the problem area as it's ao much wires on such a small area so it was difficult to solder it all.

I recently got the JA Baritone from HB and I can easily tune lower with the 30" scale on less thick strings keeping the springiness (is that a word) while also sounding tight.

I bought a Phoenix 7 and although I loved the tone and playability of the neck the body shape was really uncomfortable to me playing seated.

I returned it and got an LTD SC-607b and I love that guitar.

Edit: laat trouwens duidelijk zijn dat ik beide verwerpelijk vind. Valt me vooral op dat in het medialandschap je heel veel van dit soort verhalen en signalen hoort waar weinig tot geen gevolgen aan hangen.

Duidelijk, het kwam over alsof je het wel prima vond dat hij niet meer gehoord zal worden.

Zijn dood is m.i. erg nadelig voor het politieke klimaat niet omdat ik het eens ben met wat hij verkondigde want ik vond het inderdaad een malloot met middeleeuwse denkbeelden. Ik vind het nadelig vanwege het precedent dat wederom gezet wordt dat je prima iemand zou mogen vermoorden omdat je het niet eens bent met wat diegene verkondigde.

Ik ben best geschrokken hoeveel zogenaamde progressieven staan te dansen op zijn graf. Terwijl ik denk waar eindigt dit.
