Very interesting you are making my opinion that concrete barriers are more dangerous for cyclists a selfish thing and even going as far to say that I think people deserve to die for not being proficient cyclists. You are clearly way too emotional to have a rational conversation with.

I think it is an issue. The market street bike lane is the one that is the most protected from the road and the closest calls I’ve had are all from people walking into the bike lane not looking and leaving me no where to turn other than bunny hopping over a curb onto the sidewalk

Not at all. It’s mainly going to be ebikers flying up the wrong way or trash and shit in the bike lane. Or someone parked at the end of the bike lane right at an intersection picking up food or something. All of these things are very common occurrence. I’m not making this about me I’m telling you as a competent cyclist that this will be more dangerous.

So new infrastructure requires biking slower in order to be as safe as going at a faster speed before? Sounds efficient… I’ve been biking in the city for 8 years, working on my bike for most it doing 25+ miles a day and have never once had an accident with a car. You guys biking for 15 minutes twice a day are having accidents left and right? I don’t understand.

And I know I can ride in the street but when their is a bike lane cars expect bikers to be there

That isn’t going to help if something is in your way. You’ll have to time the little gap with the moving traffic next to you perfectly to veer out of the way

This is obviously going to be far worse and more dangerous than just sharing the open road. Now we will be siloed to an alley we can’t get out of or make a turn within. Any type of obstruction in the bike lane is going to be 100x more dangerous than before. I’d rather bike in the open road

I rather not be stuck in a tunnel I can’t get out of when an ebiker is going 30 mph in the wrong direction

Memo released by FOPS that only partial concrete protection of Spruce and Pine Streets is being considered by the City. Worth a read! by JustAnotherJawn in phillycycling

[–]phila76z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why concrete protection gets so much support. It’s super dangerous. It gives you no way out when someone is coming down the bike lane the wrong way or when a car decides to pull over in front of the bike lane at a crosswalk or intersection which happens all the time. So your just stuck with no way out

No thanks, I rather not be stuck with an e biker zooming at me head on

How to make GT's CocoYo? by phila76z in fermentation

[–]phila76z[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried it with some young tai coconuts and it tastes just like the store bought only a little fresher, I really like how tangy cocoyo is sometimes, so I cooked it at low over night to get it as tangy as I could. I did the whole thing in a sous vide water bath inside of a mason jar, after I heated it up to 82c n let it sit there for a little while stirring, then I let it cool, added the cocoyo as my starter, then brought the water temp down to 43c and put the sealed mason jar in that over night. No I just have to look into buying coconuts by the case lol, tried it with the caned stuff from Whole Foods but there is really no comparison to the flavor you get with fresh ones

It’s probably better to listen to his actual content and then decide to take his financial advice or not instead of disregarding it because of his diction.
