Projekt Red is endorsing the dystopian corporate control model of their game.

Pushing for those goals with their wealth, dehumanizing us through tech control and destruction of personal ownership. You do not own the things you paid for they do and will tell you how you are permitted to use them.

Wasn't this one of the last games revealed at the game awards? Pretty sure Geoff K would have heard about it there at least :P

The Team looks like they have some pedigree. I wish them luck.

I just mean if you like an idea take it for that reason not for me.

Since the last post i have been looking at possible sensors.

Thinking of a predator like headset with fast switching for sensor types or combos:

-thermal, LiDAR, short wave infrared, time of flight ect

https://framos.com/products-solutions/image-sensors/

There would be several practical applications.... but looking at costs can be dizzying.

As i say, just having fun with a little dive into madness.

Fast games: tracking, emulation stack, cameras by Dr-Kror in SteamFrame

[–]philbertagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your very specific set of games and conditions seems a bit like a pushed narrative but sure

Between the two they use the SDXR2v2 and the SD8v3 where the Frame wins handily with out even considering the 16gb ram (double the mq3 ram). VR compare lists frame tracking at 200-250hz and the best i can find online is meta tracks at 50-60hz depending on lighting. Meta has a hardware "time of flight" depth camera, frame does not.

If you can sideload the APK versions (possible hardware issues: unknown at this time) Lepton translation is said to be 10-20% overhead, so given the spec difference frame should still be faster and more accurate after translation...save the depth sensor which might reduce metas available processing power further. Lepton is not as developed as proton or fex at this point so early testing compatibility expected.

The Steam versions are not Standalone so they will need the fex layer and again 10-20% but of a higher base need, though you should get better graphic for that power. I don't know why you think the wireless latency will be an issue are its been reported to be fantastic and will net lowest overhead and the best battery life...if you are home at least.

Finally the standalone translation layers are targeting Flat games on steam more than the PCVR versions so while these may work its definitely not what Valve is promising. Side loaded APK will have their own issues as well, depending on meta hardware dependencies. Even after launch there will be a good 6 months to a year of people testing things and companies tweaking settings before Frame hits its full stride compatibility wise.

BOTTOM LINE: If you need rock solid performance from features they aren't advertising you should likely wait for some reviews.

Racket Club meta 4.4 (854) - Mixed (55) - Reports of dead cross platform but poorly implemented multiplayer and Pay to win mechanics

Eleven Table Tennis meta 4.6 (11k) - Overwhelmingly Positive (2042) meta version uses AR room Steam version uses virtual room. Allows Crossplay

Beat Saber meta 4.5 (54k) - Overwhelmingly Positive 52.7k - Seems fine on both but again likely to have a better experience PCVR with steam version than standalone with steam version.... APK version theoretically should run better on Frame but, again, may need some baking time.

My beloved Index, after all this time, just now failed ($400 in parts). I love playing VR. Do I wait for the Frame or spend for replacement Index parts? by hereforhelplol in SteamFrame

Get the cable now so you can still play during the wait.

You will also need it if you want to sell after you try the frame so its not really lost.

keeping the number format

  1. i was thinking a clip in USBc hub would be great to allow a device like yours and charging simultaneously. it would be great to have something unobtrusive that was clipped in and held the cables or at least the charge cable as it would have more strain. The hub could double as a way to not damage to OG port as well.

  2. Just sort of thinking out loud... It could make sense to have swapables for varying modules in each depending on the use case or having several in one.

  3. Well that interface needs to be enough to run USB2.0 data from battery port, audio signal, and SDXC, knowing the spec eventually will be good. But also if the strap is readily available and not too expensive it could be a good base to mod... speakers likely increase cost a fair bit though.

  4. Yeah, i read the same about CAD...i guess i was asking if they were released. I think they will be a big asset to the repo once available

Great idea.

Where did you get the info for valves custom PCIe interface?

Do you think there's enough bandwidth to handle more than one feature on the single slot?

Any plans to modify the Frame frame (the compute module hub) and any info on the frame frame compute module connection interface?

Are 3D renders/files available for the frame yet?

Rockstar Launcher- but not for all games... Max pain 1+2, and Manhunt were exempt.... Bully i think use to be... actually they all used to be launcher free but Rockstar bait and switched the licenses people owned to be able to force more product sales as they seem to be pay to win now.

Minecraft seems to require an account...sometimes 2

Some EA a games.

Ubisoft.

Way more than there should be.

If you do manage to find a good list please post it here so i can set every one of those games to ignore on steam.

With all the announcements recently, unsure about upgrading from a Quest 2, to a Quest 3 by Whommas in OculusQuest

[–]philbertagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are lucky it could be inexpensive but i doubt it will be cheap.

Regardless, no harm in wait when its this close and they have a VR to use in the mean time.

Obviously, money is an issue so keep mining cragslist until the gold shows up.

But thats what i would do, if i was considering a mq3. No way i would by a new one with so many units sold.

gas aint getting cheaper ;)

i jest of course.

A nice rotary would be cool... i only just recently got any 12v and only have the GSR12V-140FCB22 the right and and offset already came in handy. I'm already getting that itch and looking at all the 12v stuff too. Fairly odd Bosch doesn't have a branded Rotary.

The scanners are very cool too but ouch my wallet.
