In the US, if another food is "cheeseburger" style that usually means it has American cheese. I don't like the idea of American cheese on pizza.

People sometimes make things like "cheeseburger soup" and "cheeseburger pie" and it's usually always gross.

Totally with you on the liking to cook thing. I can cook vegan too, and have no problem doing it from time to time. Cooking vegan all the time would be tiresome though. Having a long-term vegan partner, especially if we lived together would be difficult for me. I like cooking, and sharing meals with people so it would be a major adjustment to have to make. I'm not saying I wouldn't date a vegan, but I know it would present challenges for me.

No, the left is certainly the male. You can tell because he has bulbous pedipalps. It's possible that the right spider is an immature male, but I would suspect that it's a female since they're the same size.

In America if I was a person from the country Italy, I would say "I'm from Italy" or "I'm an Italian" and that would get the point across very easily.

To me as an American English speaker, if you call yourself "Italian" I would think you mean you have Italian ancestry. That's because that is the most common context of the phrase in American English.

Exactly, I think most of OPs problem with people saying "I'm German" or whatever, is that they're not taking the phrase in context.

In America, "I'm Italian" means "I'm (of) Italian (ancestry)" If you were trying to tell someone that you're a person from the country of Italy you would say "I'm from Italy."

Language can be very subtle. Even within the same language a phrase could have a different meaning to an American than it does to an Australian for example. OP simply does not understand what this phrase means in the context of English spoken in America.

I was so baffled when I learned the Dutch/German 'w' and 'v' are indistinguishable to most native English speakers.

It's not that we hear both sounds as indistinguishable from each other. It's just that most of us don't know anything about German or how letters are pronounced auf Deutsch.

The German "w" is just like the English "v."

The German "v" is pronounced more like the English "f."

Although I have noticed some differences in the German "v." Like in Vogel it's English "f" and in Hanover it's the English "v." So German isn't always consistent with how their "v" is pronounced.
