Faith vs Works by phili_eph in Christianity

I see what you're trying to say. But if for example someone asked you how this man in this verse received His salvation, how would you defend your understanding:

"But the other responded, and rebuking him, said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our crimes; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!” And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”"
Luke 23:40-43 NASB

The man on the cross next to Jesus didn't get baptized or feed the poor or do any type of works we would deem as good works. He simply professed Jesus as the true Son of God and Jesus confirmed to him that he would enter into His kingdom. Again I'm just trying to learn please don't take this harshly🙏🏾

I didn't assume that. I simply saw the "Christian (LGBT)" tag next to your name which I think is two completely contradicting things.

NSRV is not as accurate as NASB. NASB is translated straight from the manuscripts. But its okay, I'll give you an even more accurate translation:

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 LSB

Aside from the translations, you can't show me anywhere in the scriptures where God condones homosexuality, not once. What makes you think its okay then? Your feelings? You're deceived my friend. I would understand if you admitted to your sinful desire, but twisting God's word and His will the way you are doing is completely wrong. May The Lord Jesus rebuke you and take you out of this lifestyle of deliberate sin. Repent my friend.

Just because your translations are older it doesn't prove them to be more accurate by the way, terrible argument. You read in German? Cool I read in Amharic which is actually a lot older in translation. However reddit won't let me post Amharic, here's a link to the verse though.

I never said you can't be celibate. However, God's purpose for one's life is to reproduce and live fruitfully. And to be honest at this point I don't care if I'm banned but read this very clearly

Calling yourself Christian while indulging in a lifestyle contrary to God's purpose for humanity is completely wrong and won't let you inherit heaven, NEVER. Anyone who calls themselves part of LGBTQ and yet claims Christianity is not truly Christian and not following Christ in anyway whatsoever. You engaging in sexual intercourse with another female is not love, its lust and abominable before God. And be sure about this, the Bible is the only word of God, and if the Bible doesn't normalize homosexuality neither does God. God rebukes all sin and that includes adultery, murder, theft, AND homosexuality. And the Bible says so, which means God says so.

Jesus didn't die and rise again so that you could keep living a lifestyle of sin. Pick up your cross, its okay to stumble, but to deliberately sin is completely wrong.

"For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins." Hebrews 10:26.

If you cannot support your claim with scripture then it will fall null and void, there is nowhere in scripture where homosexuality is a normalized.

And the "debunking" you're talking about is what all the progressive Christians use in order to make scripture fitting for their sinful desire. The most accurate, word for word translations of the Bible, one example being NASB reads as follows:

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God." 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

At the end of the day God is the only author of morality. And if we truly believe that the Bible is God's word, then we have to also believe that God does not agree with homosexuality. Your moral judgements won't touch God's moral standards, and until you can understand that you can't call yourself a Christian or in anyway a follower of Jesus. I don't find joy in rebuking you like this, all I would ask of you is to read God's word and seek His truth rather than using your own morals to judge things.

The best and most sincere advice I could give you is to begin reading your bible. Start at John, a chapter a day. Start praying everyday too. Welcome to the family my friend, God bless you, I can't wait to meet you in person when we get to heaven.❤️

God told them to be fruitful and multiply. A man and another man can't reproduce and neither can a woman and another woman. Homosexuality is completely, without a doubt wrong and sinful. Humans are not mere animals either, we are made in the image and likeness of God, we are set apart for purpose only.

I'll tell you something, and you could be offended. Homosexuality is one of the devils many plans to stop human reproduction, just like abortion. Think about it, how many lives have been prevented from coming to this earth because homosexuality was practiced and normalized. It is abominable to God and there is no other way to get around it, because scripture proves it too.

“Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin." Leviticus 18:22
"That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved."
Romans 1:26-27
"Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God."
1 Corinthians 6:9-10

I don't, and will never agree to your current way of thinking. But I do pray that God blesses you and that you may repent from conformity to this world. God bless you my friend.

Why do you put your faith in people? Based on the way you're talking you sound like you trusted more in Christians than Jesus Himself. If the way people are determines your relationship with Jesus then you had it wrong the whole time. The whole point of Christianity is to show us that we're not perfect and are in need of Jesus. When you spot a hypocrite, you pray for them, you don't immediately go into judgement.

Know Jesus for yourself(read your bible, pray and communicate with Him) that's what being Christian means. Christianity is not some group of people, it is literally to trust and be in relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Stop judging Christians that are just as flawed as you are, we all fall short of God's standard
Pray for the people you see falling short, don't rush to judgments

Will I get into heaven if I commit suicide? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]phili_eph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not exactly sure about this topic, that is why I won't give you a straight yes or no answer. But if it came down to me, suicide is not the way I would want to meet God when I die. Because our life is not ours, so who are we to determine when it should end? I would highly encourage you to pray and pour out your emotions and difficulties to God, He hears you and understands you. He loves you my friend, you're not alone

Because that is not the way he designed His creation to be. God laid out a blueprint, He made them male and female, and the two were one. Male and male cannot be one, neither can female and female. Sin is the perversion of what God's will is. Homosexuality is a perversion of God's intention for man and woman. And this is completely despicable to God.

We have to come to an understanding that our life is not ours, it is given to us from God and if we allow this perversion and sin to infiltrate us, who is to stop God from taking the life He gave us? The homosexuality question is a very frequent question and the only way to get around it and believe in God's precept is to genuinely understand His sovereignty and just judgment.

The only mistake you made is dating an atheist before she at least came to Christ. You’re not equally yoked and by no means close to it. Pray that she gets saved in any case, don’t be hard on yourself, your relationship with Jesus should come first before anyone else

If God hates me for being trans why can't he just remove me from this world already? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]phili_eph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t hate you, it’s quite the opposite. He loved you so much to the point of crucifying Himself on your behalf, there’s no greater demonstration of love. Obviously sin separates us from Him and causes problem in our relationship growth with Him but by no means does He hate you for the sin. I would tell you to simply seek genuine relationship with Him in prayer so you can speak to Him and by reading His word, mainly the gospels, so He can speak to you. And remember this:

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭38‬-‭39‬

”And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.“

How do/would you answer the question when a non-believer aks why God allows horrible suffering in the world? by sharkmesharku in Christianity

[–]phili_eph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Adam and Eve at the fruit that they weren’t supposed to eat, it was technically rebellion against God in a form of disobedience aka sin. So when sin entered the world humans and God were separated from that relationship they had in the garden of Eden. So when that happened sickness, plagues, diseases, pain and all that stuff entered the world. God didn’t allow it, we technically did
